Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Semenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitchell kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Voices- Rev Theory. Semenko has chosen Popek - Pain be my guest as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Semenko's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mitchell connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Semenko scrambles back to his feet.
Mitchell throws a lazy body kick
and Semenko counters with a good, hard body kick but Mitchell shrugs it off.
We've been hearing reports that Mitchell has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
James Mitchell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mitchell misses with a jab, cross combination.
Semenko fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
No joy there for Mitchell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Semenko counters with a body kick that stops Mitchell in his tracks momentarily.

Semenko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mitchell pinned against the cage. Mitchell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sloppy strikes from Mitchell. Those never looked like landing.
Mitchell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Semenko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Mitchell takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Semenko misses with a series of wild punches.
Semenko shoots in but Mitchell avoids the takedown attempt easily.
James Mitchell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dave Semenko.
Mitchell tries to close the distance and clinch but Semenko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Semenko shoots in and drives through. Mitchell sprawls well.
Mitchell swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Mitchell closes the distance and clinches up with Semenko, looking for a takedown. Mitchell pushes Semenko against the cage but Semenko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A telegraphed right hand from Mitchell misses the target.
Mitchell lands a jab.
Mitchell misses with a takedown attempt - Semenko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Semenko tries to clinch there but Mitchell circles away.
Semenko takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Mitchell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Mitchell tries to pass the half guard into mount. Semenko knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Semenko is defending against the submission attempts here by Mitchell.

Semenko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mitchell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Semenko is squirming around, avoiding Mitchell's attempts to control the action.
Mitchell is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Semenko can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Mitchell postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Semenko looks a forlorn figure.
It looks like Dave Semenko has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mitchell thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Semenko manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Mitchell passes to side control.
Mitchell looks up at the clock and then as Semenko takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mitchell smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
That has opened up Dave Semenko's cut even more.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ground and pound from Mitchell seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mitchell throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mitchell looks up at the clock and then as Semenko takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mitchell smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Semenko is rocked!
Mitchell is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Semenko is trying to escape and Mitchell transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Semenko is forced to tap! Nice work there by Mitchell! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James Mitchell!
After winning the bout, James Mitchell thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
The defeated Dave Semenko had this to say: 'I will be back!'.
