The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Troyer looks frusrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
De Troyer stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Briggs.
Nice jab there from Briggs.
Briggs misses with a low kick as De Troyer jumps back.
The fight stays on the outside here - De Troyer looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

De Troyer shoots in but Briggs avoids the takedown attempt easily.

De Troyer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Briggs wants to improve his position but De Troyer is controlling well.
It looks like De Troyer is going to stand back up.

De Troyer drops his hands momentarily and Briggs takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

De Troyer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Briggs tries to roll over but De Troyer keeps him under control.

De Troyer is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Briggs has managed to free his arm - good work.
De Troyer thows a huge punch but Briggs dodges it nicely.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
De Troyer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Briggs circles away.

De Troyer takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
De Troyer missing with a left hand there. Briggs was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Briggs is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
De Troyer misses with a takedown attempt - Briggs sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Briggs goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

De Troyer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Briggs as he avoids it easily.
De Troyer shoots in but Briggs avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Briggs shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
De Troyer fails to land the takedown.
Briggs cracks the inside of De Troyer's front leg.
De Troyer takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Briggs fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt De Troyer.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
A jab-cross combination lands for Briggs and sends De Troyer crashing to the mat! Briggs follows him down to the mat - De Troyer regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Oh De Troyer is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Briggs passes to full mount!

Briggs shoots in for a takedown. Oh, that's a huge slam! De Troyer is on queer street and Briggs is pounding down on him with a barage of strikes. The ref is forced to step in and stop the fight. Great finish!
