Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Coffey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Rapide (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Wanderlei Rapide enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Coffey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Wanderlei Rapide! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coffey misses with a wild body shot. Rapide stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rapide wants it to stay on the feet. Rapide avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rapide looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Coffey is fending him off so far but Rapide persists. Nope, Coffey circles away and we're back to standing. Rapide leaves Coffey with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Rapide shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Coffey sprawls well. Coffey wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rapide gets slowly back to his feet. Coffey tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rapide swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Coffey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rapide lands with a kick to the temple. Coffey shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Rapide swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rapide fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice sprawl there from Rapide as Coffey shoots in. Rapide misses with a takedown attempt - Coffey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rapide shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Coffey defends it nicely. Coffey connects with a looping right hand.

Rapide is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Coffey has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rapide avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Rapide is trying to pull guard but Coffey turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rapide missing with knees to the body.
Coffey tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rapide just stands there and leans against the cage. Coffey manages to break the clinch.
Rapide has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Coffey. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Coffey moves out of range of the body kick from Rapide.
Coffey feints and then cracks Rapide's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rapide down. Rapide looks winded! Coffey pushes Rapide up against the cage in a clinch. Rapide has had enough of the clinch but Coffey keeps him there for the moment. Rapide tries to circle away but Coffey has him pinned against the cage. Coffey tries to pull guard but Rapide won't allow it.
Rapide is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Coffey gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Coffey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coffey gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Coffey pulls guard effortlessly. Coffey throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Coffey looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rapide is one step ahead there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Coffey keeping moving, preventing Rapide from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rapide missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Coffey trying to keep a closed guard but Rapide is proving a slippery customer.
Rapide not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Coffey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Wanderlei Rapide was stalling too much, according to the referee. Rapide pushes Coffey up against the cage in a clinch. Coffey ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Coffey no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Coffey being controlled here, momentarily. Coffey keeping moving, preventing Rapide from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coffey throws a sloppy head kick and Rapide moves out of range easily. Rapide tries to clinch but Coffey moves out of range. Rapide gets in close and instigates a clinch. Coffey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Coffey is defended easily by Rapide. Coffey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Rapide fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rapide takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Rapide shoots in looking for a takedown. Coffey tries to sprawl out of it but Rapide keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Coffey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coffey rushes Rapide and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Rapide drags the fight down to the ground.

Rapide is breathing heavily. Rapide lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Coffey! Rapide can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Coffey is looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Coffey is trying desperately to improve position. Coffey wants to control but Rapide is having none of it. Coffey looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Coffey rolls, trying to escape but Rapide keeps control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rapide is trying to stick to Coffey's back but Coffey is turning into Rapide. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Rapide's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Coffey. Rapide bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Coffey's guard. Coffey pulls Rapide in to control the position. Coffey has a closed guard, preventing Rapide from standing up. Coffey is trying to keep Rapide in close.
Coffey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rapide doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rapide manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rapide must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rapide trying to control but Coffey is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rapide throws a strike but Coffey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Rapide seems keen to control Coffey's posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rapide working a defensive guard but Coffey manages to pass into side control anyway.
Coffey stands up and we're back to a striking position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Coffey bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Coffey fails to land the takedown. Coffey closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rapide's guard. Tommy Coffey overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rapide is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Rapide tries to land a sweep but no joy. Rapide is trying to control the position but Coffey postures up. Coffey wants to control from the top but Rapide keeps moving. Rapide can't keep his opponent in guard - Coffey advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rapide missing with punches from the bottom.
Rapide is not content to let Coffey control the position. Coffey keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Rapide trying to control but Coffey postures up.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rapide darts in and clinches Coffey up against the cage. Rapide using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rapide tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Coffey jumps guard and drags Rapide to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Coffey is trying to control the position but Rapide postures up. Rapide trying to control but Coffey is working from the bottom. Rapide might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Coffey haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Rapide won't allow Coffey to sweep him here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rapide is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Coffey is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Coffey has escaped and now he's on top! Wanderlei Rapide has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tommy Coffey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Coffey's corner is telling him to maintain position.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Tommy Coffey. Well Coffey has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
