PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dane Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Kee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dane Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ryan Kee!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kee swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kee drives through with a takedown into guard.
My spies in Soul Supremacy Fight Club - ELITE TRAINERS----$580 inform me that Kee has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Kane wants to stand and escape but Kee is having none of it.
Kee controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Kee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kee advances position into side control!
Kee is looking to take a break and control but Kane is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Kane wants to control but Kee postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kee is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kane will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
I wouldn't like to be where Kane is right now.
Kee wants to take a breather but Kane manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Kee.
Kane is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kane gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Kane is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Kee gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Kane pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kee avoids the head kick by Kane.
Kee throws a body punch but Kane moves out of range.
Kane tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Kane ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kee moves away.
Kane shoots in for a takedown but Kee shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kee takes a swing at Kane's ribcage but misses.
Kee thows a body shot but no joy.
Kane shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dane Kane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kee gets the takedown into side control.

Kee is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kane has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kee tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
You can see the frustration on Kane's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kee advances to full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kee throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Kee controlling the position easily from mount.
Kee can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kane is looking to escape.
Kane tries to control the position but Kee now has his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kee trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Kee has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Kane's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryan Kee dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Kane closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Kee's guard.
Kee is pulling down on Kane's head to control his posture.
Kee looking for a sweep. Not yet Kee, not yet.
Kane wants to get up but he can't break Kee's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kee slaps away a takedown attempt from Kane, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Kane clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kane breaks from the clinch.

Kee darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kee throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kee in particular looking to stall.
Kane is trying to control but can't.
Kee wants to take a breather but Kane is having none of it.
Kee not doing much here.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Kane definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ryan Kee wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kee misses with a body punch

and Kane counters by clinching up.
Kee missing with knees to the body.

Kane pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kane fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kane rushes Kee and presses him up against the cage.
Kane lands on the inside with an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kane decides to pull guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kee trying to control the position from guard on top but Kane is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kane has control of Kee's left arm, preventing Kee from doing any damage.
Ryan Kee has got the better of the ground game so far.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
The fighters circling - Kee throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Kane scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kane wants to free his trapped foot but Kee is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Kane is thwarting Kee's attempts to control the position.

Kane seems to be working for a kimura but Kee defends the submission attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kane is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Kee manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dane Kane dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Kee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kee lands in his opponent's guard.

Kee's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kee tries to free his leg and advance position but Kane is retaining full guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kane has a closed guard, preventing Kee from standing up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ryan Kee hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Kee shoots in and bounces Kane off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Kane working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Kee has passed into half guard!
Kee takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kee is trying to control the action in half guard but Kane is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kee content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kane on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kane tries to get out of the position.
Let's hope that Kee has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ryan Kee wasn't active enough on the ground.
Kee misses with a low kick as Kane jumps back.

Kee is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kane's half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kane tries to get to full guard but Kee has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kee seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kane is refusing to be controlled, as Kee sits in half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ryan Kee was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Kee gets a takedown into half guard.
Kane wants to get back to full guard.
Kee is keen to just control but Kane is a slippery customer.
Kane keeping control of the position.
Kane is staying active underneath Kee, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ryan Kee comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kee has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
