Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Molina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Komarov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mauricio Molina is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mauricio Molina!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yuri Komarov!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Komarov looks to clinch
and Molina counters with a left to the body.
Molina dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Molina misses with a takedown attempt

and Komarov counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Molina drags the fight down to the ground.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Komarov wants to pass the guard but Molina is keeping the position.
Molina is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Molina wants to sweep but no luck.
Komarov wants to control from the top but Molina keeps moving.

Molina had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Komarov defends it easily.
Komarov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Komarov looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Yuri Komarov.
Molina steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Komarov.
Komarov cracks Molina with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Molina feints and as Komarov raises his hands in defense, Molina changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Molina trying to control but Komarov is working from the bottom.
Komarov has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Molina has passed into side control.
Komarov looks winded!
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Molina could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Molina scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Komarov to see if he's OK.
Komarov is trying to get back to half guard.
Komarov looks to move to half guard but instead Molina has passed into mount! Damn!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Komarov can do anything to dispel that myth.

Komarov is just holding on here. Molina manages to take his back.
Molina tries to get the hooks in deep but Komarov pushed the leg off.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Molina doesn't have the hooks in and Komarov manages to turn into his guard.

Komarov avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Komarov fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Molina manages to avoid it.
Molina shoots in but no luck this time.
Molina misses with a takedown attempt
and Komarov counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Komarov tries a head kick but it misses.
Molina tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Komarov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Komarov leaves Molina with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mauricio Molina. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Molina rushes Komarov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Molina has Komarov pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Komarov manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Komarov is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Komarov ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Komarov no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Komarov is breathing heavily.
Molina trying to control the position from guard on top but Komarov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Komarov manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Komarov has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Komarov biding his time, looking for the opening.

Komarov has the hooks in. Molina is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Molina tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Molina is looking to improve his position but Komarov isn't that keen on the idea.

Komarov is working for a guillotine from mount but Molina frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yuri Komarov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

and Komarov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Komarov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Komarov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Komarov drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Molina manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Komarov has Molina in his guard.

Komarov working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Molina has passed into half guard!

Molina seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Molina is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Komarov wants to control but Molina is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Komarov is positioning himself well to prevent Molina advancing to mount.
Komarov blocking the ground and pound attempt from Molina.
Komarov is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Molina stalling away here and it's allowed Komarov to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mauricio Molina.

Molina gets a clinch.

Komarov is fighting off a takedown attempt but Molina is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Komarov to the mat. Komarov regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mauricio Molina.
Well Molina has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
