Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luther Patton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ben Frengar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ben Frengar has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Luther Patton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ben Frengar!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Frengar dives in and scores a takedown into Patton's guard.
Frengar must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Patton wants to stand up but Frengar is controlling him.
Patton really is a fat lump.
Frengar trying to control the position from guard on top but Patton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Frengar wants to get up but he can't break Patton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Frengar is stalling in the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ben Frengar.
Frengar fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Patton moves into range and clinches up with Frengar.

Frengar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Frengar shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Patton counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Frengar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Frengar tries to pass to full mount but Patton defends it.
Patton desperately trying to maintain half guard.

Frengar is looking for a kimura here.

Patton is trying to control but Frengar manages to pass to mount!
Patton wants to control but Frengar is having none of it.
Frengar won't let Patton get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Patton just holding on.
Patton tries to buck Frengar off but he can't manage it.

Frengar thowing shots but they're missing.
Frengar content just to control the position here.
Patton trying desperately to get to his feet.
Patton holds on to Frengar as tight as he can, avoiding damage.

Patton is looking to improve his position but Frengar isn't that keen on the idea.
Patton is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Patton sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Patton wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Frengar passes the guard and advances to mount!
You get the feeling that Patton really doesn't like being in this position too much.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ben Frengar will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Patton gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Patton is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Patton gets control of Frengar's arms and successfully pulls guard. Patton will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Frengar stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Frengar throws a head kick that misses.

Frengar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Patton as he avoids it easily.
Luther Patton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Frengar.
Frengar is breathing heavily.

Patton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Frengar is trying to control but can't.
Frengar is trying to get back to full guard.
Patton wants to get back to his feet.
Patton not doing much here.
Patton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Frengar is looking to control Patton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Frengar avoid being mounted?

We're going to have a standup here because Luther Patton wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Frengar missing with a left hand there. Patton was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Patton lands the left hand.

Frengar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Patton did well to prevent Frengar getting side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Patton manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Frengar closes the distance and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Frengar is fighting off a takedown attempt but Patton is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Frengar to the mat. Frengar regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Patton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
A swing and a miss from Patton.
Patton lands a head shot.

Patton clinches up with Frengar and pushes him back against the cage.
Patton jumps guard but Frengar stands there with Patton around his waist. Patton gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Patton pulls guard successfully.
Patton pulls Frengar in close to his closed guard and prevents Frengar from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Frengar trying to control but Patton is working from the bottom.
Luther Patton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Patton holds on and takes a little breather.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Frengar fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Patton, pushing him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Patton decides to pull guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patton has control of Frengar's left arm, preventing Frengar from doing any damage.
Patton wants to stand and escape but Frengar is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luther Patton dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Patton tries for a takedown but Frengar circles away easily

and Frengar holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Patton wants a takedown.
Patton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Frengar walks away with a smile on his face. Patton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luther Patton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Frengar fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Patton has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Frengar scores with a spinning back kick!

Frengar shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Patton's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Frengar makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Frengar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Frengar shoots in for a double leg but Patton sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Frengar shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Patton is looking to escape.
Frengar content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Frengar wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Patton controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Frengar is trying to work for a kimura but Patton is defending well.
Patton wants to get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Patton regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Frengar.
Frengar wanted to stand there but Patton had control of the position.

Patton pushes Frengar off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Patton wants to clinch up but Frengar keeps it at a distance.

Patton scores with a takedown into Frengar's guard.

Patton stands up from Frengar's guard - Patton perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Frengar gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Patton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Patton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

I would just about give that final round to Ben Frengar.
I think Frengar has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
