The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dos Santos stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dos Santos wants it to stay on the feet.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Dos Santos.
Dos Santos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Velasquez keeps working.
Dos Santos wants to control for a moment but Velasquez uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Well, if Dos Santos is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Velasquez is concentrating on defense, preventing Dos Santos from advancing position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Velasquez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Velasquez tries to stand but Dos Santos is controlling his head.
Dos Santos tries to bench press Velasquez off him but Velasquez keeps the position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Velasquez in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Velasquez scores with a couple of short elbows.

Dos Santos prevents Velasquez from moving into mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Velasquez lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Velasquez is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Dos Santos is trying to escape and Velasquez transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Dos Santos is forced to tap! Nice work there by Velasquez! Very nice indeed!
