Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jewel Wilcox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Charles Gray! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gray closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wilcox to the mat! Wilcox manages to get full guard. Wilcox on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wilcox tries to get out of the position. Gray postures up.
Gray slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Gray in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gray wants to get up but he can't break Wilcox's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Gray is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Gray wants to stand but Wilcox has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Charles Gray. Gray looks for a takedown but Wilcox sprawls well. Gray wants to clinch and Wilcox counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gray tries to roll over but Wilcox keeps him under control. Gray tries to kick Wilcox off but Wilcox keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Gray wants to control but Wilcox is keeping busy.
Wilcox is taking a breather. Gray says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Gray is trying to maintain the position but Wilcox is very close to passing his half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wilcox closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gray is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Wilcox is keeping busy. Wilcox breaks from the clinch.
Gray tries to clinch up. Wilcox avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Wilcox darts in looking for a takedown but Gray gets double underhooks and turns Wilcox into the cage. Wilcox fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Wilcox has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Wilcox jumps guard and drags Gray to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Gray makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gray missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Gray is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Wilcox wants to control the position but Gray says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Gray has eaten all the pies! Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gray in particular looking to stall. Gray is trying to control the action in half guard but Wilcox is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Charles Gray. Wilcox throws a leg kick but Gray sees it coming and checks it nicely. Wilcox checks a low kick from Gray. Wilcox with a poor takedown and Gray counters with a big head kick but Wilcox shrugs it off. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jewel Wilcox. That's going to take a lot out of him. Gray is looking to clinch but Wilcox is avoiding it.
Gray bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gray working away. Wilcox is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Gray wants to stand but Wilcox is controlling his arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Charles Gray dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Gray misses with a takedown and Wilcox decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gray's guard. Wilcox pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gray is keeping the position for now. Wilcox sitting in guard here, content to control. Wilcox postures up and lands a big shot to Gray's brow. Wilcox trying to move into half guard but instead Gray has managed to sweep! Gray in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gray sitting in guard here, content to control. Gray trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilcox is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Gray pushes down on Wilcox's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilcox is looking to control Gray's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wilcox avoid being mounted? Wilcox pushes Gray off looking to stand but Gray dives back in and keeps control.
Wilcox is looking for a sweep. Gray is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wilcox wants to control but Gray is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Horrible takedown by Gray or perhaps it was just good defense by Wilcox which made him look bad. A combination from Gray does no damage. Wilcox shoots in for a double leg but Gray sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Gray gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wilcox to score an easy takedown into full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wilcox postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gray is on top in guard.
Wilcox will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gray trying to control but Wilcox is working from the bottom. Gray throws a big elbow that misses. Wilcox is looking to stand up but Gray isn't so interested in that idea. Gray trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wilcox is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Gray postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Gray lands with a shot to the body. Gray tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Wilcox manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Gray closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gray lands in his opponent's guard. Gray wants to get up but he can't break Wilcox's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Gray trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Wilcox is trying to control the position from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wilcox looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gray is one step ahead there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jewel Wilcox will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Nope, Wilcox circles away and we're back to standing. Gray takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wilcox closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gray quickly recovers to half guard. Gray keeping control of the position. Gray is trying to get back to full guard. Wilcox wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gray keeps working.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gray looks for the body kick but Wilcox saw that one coming. Wilcox closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gray quickly recovers to half guard. Wilcox content to control rather than advance. This has been an exciting period of action! Wilcox moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Gray.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gray can't do much from the bottom here. Wilcox wants to stand but Gray is controlling his arm. Wilcox goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Gray has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Wilcox but great work by Gray. Wilcox is looking to reverse the position. Wilcox is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gray's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Gray is keen to just control but Wilcox is a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gray thows a huge punch but Wilcox dodges it nicely.
Gray tries to stand and escape but Wilcox is controlling the position. Jewel Wilcox overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wilcox flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Wilcox is trying is best to control the position here. Wilcox is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Gray is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Gray seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gray stalling away here and it's allowed Wilcox to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jewel Wilcox. I think Wilcox has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
