Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hachiro Matsui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sub Position (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matsui comes into the arena with Solvent by Skinny Puppy blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hachiro Matsui! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Sub Position! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Position shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Matsui but Matsui pushes him off and we're back to square one. Position goes for a double leg but Matsui avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Matsui continues to drive forward. Matsui wants a takedown.
Position tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Matsui smiles and moves away.
Hachiro Matsui has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sub Position. Matsui misses with a takedown so Position counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Matsui looking for a sweep. Not yet Matsui, not yet. Position trying to control but Matsui is working from the bottom. Position won't allow Matsui to sweep him here. Matsui is working hard here to advance position. Position controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Position trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Position wants to control from the top but Matsui keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Sub Position. Position dives in for a single leg takedown but Matsui sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. Matsui gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Position regains guard.
Matsui stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Position swivels though and keeps the full guard. Position keeping moving, preventing Matsui from controlling successfully. Position throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Matsui trying to control the position from guard on top but Position is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matsui looking to pass the guard. Position tries to land a sweep but no joy. Matsui looking to pass the guard. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Matsui wants to control from the top but Position keeps moving. Matsui is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Hachiro Matsui just wasn't active enough. Position with a lazy takedown attempt and Matsui counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Position! Position tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Position keeps trying to improve his position. Matsui trying to control the position but Position is working away. Position is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Position felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Matsui trying to control the action but Position is working from the bottom. Position sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Position tries to roll over but Matsui keeps him under control. Matsui is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Position reverses the position - he's now on top in Matsui's guard. Position postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Position trying to control but Matsui is working from the bottom. Matsui is trying to control the position but Position postures up. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Position preventing the sweep. Position wants to control from the top but Matsui keeps moving. Matsui wants to sweep here but Position controlling him for the moment.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Position shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Matsui but Matsui pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've been told by Matsui's head coaches at Trains: PIT Inc. that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Position shoots for a takedown but Matsui saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Position defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Matsui. Position shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Matsui counters with a nice double leg into side control. Position won't be happy with that. Matsui is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Position is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Matsui wants to control but Position is keeping him busy. Position can't do much from the bottom here. Position tries to bench press Matsui off him but Matsui keeps the position. Position manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's six minutes gone in the round. Position passes to side control. Matsui is looking for a sweep. Matsui manages to get back to half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Position is trying to control the action in half guard but Matsui is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Position wants to work for an arm triangle but Matsui is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Matsui is trying to get back to full guard. Matsui regains full guard. Nicely done. Position looking to sit in guard and control but Matsui gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Matsui works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Position is trying to get back to full guard. Matsui wants to pass to mount but Position is defending the position. Position is looking for a sweep. Matsui is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Position is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Matsui pulls his head out easily. Matsui looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Matsui is keen to just control but Position is a slippery customer. Matsui is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Position tries to hold on but Matsui pushes him away. Matsui looking to control but Position is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Matsui forces the positional change into back control. Position wants to escape the position.
Matsui looking for the choke from the back. Matsui patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Matsui is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Position is defending well though. Matsui let's go of the attempt for now. Matsui working for the choke. Position trying to control the hands but Matsui breaks the grip.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Matsui patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Position is in bad spot here.
Position is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Matsui gets his way!
Position trying to control but not successfully. Matsui looking to break Position's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Position remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Matsui will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Matsui working for the choke. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Matsui has the hooks in. Position is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Position manages to reverse the position and now he's in Matsui's guard. Nice work there by Position.

Hachiro Matsui dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

He's managed to get a loose triangle. Matsui doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Position is tightening it up a little... Matsui has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Matsui reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Matsui taps out! Nice BJJ there by Position!
