Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gideon Kumar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Israel Whetu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kumar's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Chris Warren and J Johnston - Make Some Noise. Whetu has chosen Gunz for Hire - The Massacre as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Gideon Kumar has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the liver by Whetu. Beautiful body shot.
Kumar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Whetu sprawls well initially but Kumar persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Kumar will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Whetu will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Whetu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kumar gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Whetu to score an easy takedown into full guard.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kumar looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Whetu buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Whetu fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kumar.
Whetu throws a nice looking combination but Kumar bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kumar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Whetu swivels and escapes.
Nice uppercut lands for Whetu. That snapped Kumar's head back.

Israel Whetu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd cheers as Whetu lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kumar doesn't seem phased though.

Whetu pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kumar is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Whetu creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Whetu unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kumar lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Whetu has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Whetu ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Whetu no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Israel Whetu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
