Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Chan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet.
Chan dives in for a single leg takedown but Johnson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Johnson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chan fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Chan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Chan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Chan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Chan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Johnson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Chan wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Johnson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Johnson stuffs the takedown.

Chan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Johnson defends it nicely.
Chan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Chan shoots in looking for a takedown but Johnson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Chan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Chan closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Chan pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Johnson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Jeff Chan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chan shoots in but no luck this time.

Chan tries to clinch but Johnson moves away

and Johnson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Johnson breaks from the clinch.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chan is defended easily by Johnson.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chan misses with a takedown attempt - Johnson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Chan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

John Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Chan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Chan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Johnson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Johnson.
