Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frenk Schmellengartner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Royce White! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schmellengartner moves into the clinch. Schmellengartner lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. White moves into full guard.
Schmellengartner stands up over White, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. White throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
White has his foot on Schmellengartner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schmellengartner works his way back into a safe position though. Schmellengartner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. White has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Schmellengartner is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for White. Schmellengartner taking a breather here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. White is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Schmellengartner wants to lay and pray for a moment but White keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. White is looking to regain half guard here but Schmellengartner keeps moving and retains side control. White keeps trying to improve his position. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Schmellengartner's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Schmellengartner prevents White from escaping the position. White is looking to reverse the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frenk Schmellengartner. White forces Schmellengartner back against the cage and clinches. Schmellengartner letting White take a breather here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. White breaks from the clinch.
White throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Schmellengartner's head.
It looks like Frenk Schmellengartner has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! White throws a leg kick but Schmellengartner moved away. White closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Schmellengartner out cold! Schmellengartner corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.
