Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Bates (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David McCain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dave Bates! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David McCain! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bates fails with an attempt to clinch.
McCain shoots in for a takedown but Bates shows good takedown defense. McCain throws a push kick but Bates slaps the foot to one side. McCain shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bates as he avoids it easily. McCain tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Bates counters with a nice body shot. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McCain. Dave Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David McCain. McCain fails in his attempt to clinch. McCain rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bates moves out of range and avoids them all easily. McCain changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bates tries to avoid it but McCain manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bates to the ground. Bates escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Bates shoots in looking for a takedown but McCain manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bates's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. McCain drives through with a takedown into Bates's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Bates is looking for a triangle but McCain pushes his legs off easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCain throws a strike but Bates rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Bates stops McCain from standing up. Bates pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McCain is keeping the position for now. Bates trying to control the position from guard on top but McCain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. McCain is trying to control the position but Bates postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
David McCain has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. McCain fails with a takedown attempt from distance. A combination from McCain does no damage. McCain throws a wild body kick that Bates sees coming a mile off. Bates keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. McCain moves out of range of the body kick from Bates.
McCain takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Bates shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McCain pinned against the cage. McCain gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. McCain throws a solid leg kick but Bates takes the impact on his shin and smiles at McCain.
That's three minutes gone in the round. No luck with that takedown attempt from McCain. Bates displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McCain. McCain misses with a wild combination.
Bates tries to clinch up. McCain takes a swing at Bates's ribcage but misses. Bates has closed the distance and engaged McCain in a clinch.
McCain can't get the takedown.
McCain breaks from the clinch.
Bates takes the fight into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bates changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McCain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
McCain slaps away a takedown attempt from Bates, before circling back to the center of the mat. McCain throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bates. McCain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bates's waist but Bates gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McCain off to one side. Bates with a poor takedown letting McCain counter with a right hand. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McCain shoots in but Bates avoids the takedown attempt easily. Bates doesn't manage to clinch there - McCain circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but David McCain will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
McCain takes a swing at Bates's ribcage but misses. McCain gets a takedown into half guard. Bates has one foot on McCain's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. McCain shoots in for a double leg but Bates sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Bates tries to clinch up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Bates. McCain goes for a double leg but Bates avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bates continues to drive forward. McCain wants a takedown.
Dave Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David McCain. McCain is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bates gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bates is working for takedown but McCain is calmly controlling the position for now. McCain is struggling to control the position. McCain blocks an elbow strike. Bates has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics McCain uses from the top position. McCain trying to control the position from guard on top but Bates is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bates throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
McCain won't allow Bates to sweep him here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCain trying to control but Bates is working from the bottom. Bates trying to keep a closed guard but McCain is proving a slippery customer.
Bates is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McCain wants to control from the top but Bates keeps moving. McCain scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bates manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McCain avoids a series of strikes thrown by Bates.
Bates prevents McCain from getting the reversal. McCain is still trying to improve position. McCain really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bates. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bates thowing shots but they're missing. Bates avoids the attempt from McCain to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. McCain tries to control Bates's body but Bates pushes him off. McCain squirms to his side and now Bates has his back! I really don't envy McCain right now.
McCain covering up well under a barage of strikes. Bates trying to control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. McCain wants to control his opponent's hands but Bates gets his hands free. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but David McCain will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
McCain looks to score with a jab to the body but Bates is just out of range. Nice takedown defense from Bates. No joy for McCain on that attempt. McCain clinches up with Bates and pushes him back against the cage. McCain is trying to pull guard but Bates turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Bates drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McCain misses with a short punch on the inside. McCain is trying to drag Bates to the mat but Bates just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Dave Bates has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David McCain. McCain is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Bates is keeping busy. McCain escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCain decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Bates has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McCain is working away from the top position though. Bates is controlling McCain's position as best he can from this difficult position. McCain trying to control the action but Bates is working from the bottom. McCain is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Bates manages to get to full guard. McCain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. McCain throws a strike but Bates rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCain is looking to stand back up but Bates counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by McCain. Bates stands up from half guard. McCain throws a poor cross that misses
and Bates counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. David McCain seems to be getting the better of the standup. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McCain fails with a takedown attempt from distance. McCain leaves Bates with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. McCain closes the distance and pushes Bates back into the cage. Bates is trying to break free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCain is defending well against a takedown attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily. McCain misses with a knee to the head. McCain breaks from the clinch.
McCain looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Bates misses with a takedown and McCain counters with a takedown into side control. McCain thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. McCain trying to control the position but Bates is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bates is looking for a sweep.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bates avoids any damage from the ground and pound of McCain. Bates tries to bench press McCain off him but McCain keeps the position. McCain tries to move to full mount but Bates actually manages to regain half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McCain is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bates is just riding it out for now. McCain eventually gives up the hold. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Bates moves into full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! David McCain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well McCain has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
