Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Withers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcelo Grover (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Withers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcelo Grover! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grover looking to score a takedown here. Withers is defending well but Grover drives through and ends up in Withers's guard. Withers looking to control.
Grover throws an elbow that misses. Withers uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Grover's guard. Nice move by Withers! Withers wants to pass the guard but Grover is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Withers wants to control from the top but Grover keeps moving. Grover has Withers pulled in close to control his posture. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Withers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Withers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Grover pushes Withers off and scrambles back to his feet.
Grover rushes Withers and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Grover wants to get back to striking at distance but Withers won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Grover takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. A nice right hand lands inside from Grover. Grover tightens his grip and picks Withers up, before dumping him to the ground. Withers manages to land in guard. Withers wants to stand but Grover is controlling the position. Grover lands a couple of digs. Grover really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Withers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Grover keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Withers's head. Grover in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Grover throws a strike but Withers rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Withers stops Grover from standing up. Grover controlling Withers's posture. Grover wants to stand and escape but Withers is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grover keeping moving, preventing Withers from controlling successfully. Grover looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Grover is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Withers is controlling him. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grover can do anything to dispel that myth.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Grover will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Withers clobbers Grover with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Grover swats away the attempt to clinch by Withers. Withers tries to clinch but Grover is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Withers tries for a takedown but Grover circles away easily and Grover counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Grover. Grover throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Witherss head. Withers keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Grover's efforts to push away. Grover tries to break free but Withers pushes him back against the cage. Grover wants to get back to striking at distance but Withers won't allow it.
Grover gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Grover landing with the ground and pound. Grover working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Grover's corner is telling him to maintain position. Grover stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Withers swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grover throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Withers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Withers is breathing heavily. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Withers is on top in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Grover pulls Withers in to control the position. Grover wants to stand and escape but Withers is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Grover has Withers up against the cage in a clinch.
Withers keeps control of Grover as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcelo Grover dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Withers gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Grover counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Grover throws an overhand right that lands on Withers's shoulder, as Withers tries to avoid the shot. Marcelo Grover seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Withers has a takedown stuffed. Grover throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Grover closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Grover lands in his opponent's guard. Grover got a little sloppy there for a moment and Withers has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Grover has managed to get both his arms back between Withers's legs - danger averted. Grover content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Grover postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Grover won't allow Withers to sweep him here. Grover must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Grover in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Grover stands and throws Withers's legs to the side, diving into side control. Withers is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Withers takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Grover wants to lay and pray for a moment but Withers keeps working. Grover moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grover in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Withers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Grover working the head and body with strikes. Grover is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Withers has escaped the position, nice work there. Grover scores with a couple of short elbows. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grover staying calm. Grover looks up at the clock and then as Withers takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Grover smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcelo Grover showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Withers's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!

Withers fails to land the takedown. Withers ducks under a wild hook from Grover. Withers with a lazy takedown attempt and Grover counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Grover drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

And that's the end of the fight! Marcelo Grover comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Grover has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. Marcelo Grover wins by unanimous decision! A relieved looking Marcelo Grover thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
