Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Colon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Fayth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fayth has chosen Awry Decade - Aisle of Denial as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fayth keeps the fight on the outside. Colon lunges at Fayth with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Fayth's hand. A clash of legs there as Fayth blocks the low kick. Colon throws a chopping leg kick but Fayth manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Colon looks to land a left hand but Fayth moved out of range nicely. Colon misses with a hook. Fayth with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Colon to score with a decent uppercut. Fayth throws a right hand that misses
and Colon holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Colon swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Colon scores with a shoulder strike. A head punch on the inside from Colon fails to land. Colon digs a right hand into Fayth's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Fayth's gas tank. Colon tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Colon lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. An uppercut to the body lands inside from Colon. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Colon tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Colon lands a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fayth is trying to pull guard but Colon turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Fayth swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Colon scores with a shoulder strike. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. A short right hand to the side of the head by Colon. Colon tries to throw a body punch but Fayth avoids it by throwing Colon back against the cage. Colon is leaning against Fayth and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Fayth stalling in the clinch but Colon improves position. Colon tries to stall but Fayth uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

It looks like Ray Fayth has been cut. Colon tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. A hook to the body from Colon.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Colon tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Fayth's elbow. Colon stalling against the cage.
Colon lands a nice uppercut. Colon lands a body shot. Fayth is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Colon can't fight it off and eventually Fayth manages to take the fight to the floor. Colon looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Fayth stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Colon swivels though and keeps the full guard. Fayth postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Fayth trying to control the position from guard on top but Colon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Colon is wriggling around but Fayth manages to pass to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Fayth trying to control the position from guard on top but Colon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Colon holds on and takes a little breather. Fayth pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Colon is keeping the position for now. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Colon trying to keep a closed guard but Fayth is proving a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Fayth looking to pass the guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Good leg kick by Colon there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Fayth moves away from the strike by Colon. Colon throws a shot from downtown. Fayth moves away and avoids it. Fayth tests Colon's chin there with a solid looking shot. A jab from Colon misses. Fayth checks a leg kick nicely. Fayth tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Colon was well out of range. Poor timing from Fayth. The crowd cheers as Fayth lands an impressive looking overhand right. Colon doesn't seem phased though. A swing and a miss from Fayth. A jab from Colon misses. Colon cracks a nice hook into Fayth's ribs. Fayth connects with a looping right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round. Fayth connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Colon lands a nice looking body kick. Santiago Colon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Fayth feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Fayth wants to pass the guard but Colon is keeping the position. Colon wants to sweep here but Fayth controlling him for the moment. Colon is trying to keep Fayth in close.
Colon is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Fayth content to stall in guard here. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Fayth trying to control the position from guard on top but Colon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Santiago Colon has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Fayth fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Colon looks to land a left hand but Fayth moved out of range nicely. Fayth fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Colon doesn't manage to clinch there - Fayth circles away.

A big left from Colon misses. Santiago Colon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fayth shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Colon is trying to get back to full guard. Colon trying to hold on to Fayth's head to control him but Fayth postures up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Santiago Colon will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Ray Fayth's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Fayth plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Colon connects with an inside leg kick. Fayth ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Colon throws a nice outside leg kick. Colon bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Fayth punishes Colon's body with a nice straight punch. Fayth blocks a jab. Colon thows a left - swing and a miss! Colon lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Fayth throws a body kick that misses. Fayth throws a hook but Colon blocks it. Fayth displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Colon throws out the jab.

Fayth keeps the fight on the outside. Fayth fails to land the takedown. Fayth delivers a nice body kick. Colon throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A big right from Colon misses. Colon scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. A slow jab from Colon misses its intended target. Fayth slips a jab from Colon. Colon uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Fayth has time to react. Ray Fayth has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Colon misses with a looping right. Fayth shoots in for a double leg but Colon sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Colon throws an overhand right that lands on Fayth's shoulder, as Fayth tries to avoid the shot. Fayth lands a glancing blow to the side of Colon's head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Colon throws a right hand that misses
and Fayth decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Colon's guard. Colon wants to sweep here but Fayth controlling him for the moment. Fayth advances position into side control! Colon is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Check out the look on Fayth's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Santiago Colon is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fayth in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Fayth trying to control the position but Colon is working away. Fayth tries to advance to mount but Colon denies him. Fayth trying to control the action but Colon is working from the bottom. Fayth is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Fayth tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Colon manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Colon tries to get to full guard but Fayth has control of the leg. Fayth is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Colon won't allow Fayth to pass to mount. Fayth is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Colon is just riding it out for now. Fayth eventually gives up the hold. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Colon is pressing down on Fayth's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Santiago Colon. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Colon, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
