Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jerald Davidson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean Doyle! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doyle closes the distance and clinches. Davidson turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Davidson manages to end up in side control. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Doyle is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Doyle seems a little lost for a moment, as Davidson dominates the positioning. Doyle scores with a shot to the body.
Davidson tries to move into full mount but can't pass Doyle's legs. Doyle tries to buck Davidson off but Davidson is having none of it. Doyle struggling a bit here. Doyle is trying to improve his position. Davidson stands up and beckons Doyle to his feet. Doyle closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Davidson did well to prevent Doyle getting side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davidson regains full guard. Nicely done. Doyle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Davidson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Doyle is aware though and is defending well. Davidson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Doyle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Davidson is looking to stand up but Doyle isn't so interested in that idea. Davidson looking for a guillotine here but Doyle defends easily.
Doyle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Doyle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davidson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Doyle stands up and waves to Davidson to follow him. Doyle looking to score a takedown here. Davidson is defending well but Doyle drives through and ends up in Davidson's guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Davidson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Doyle with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Davidson goes for a takedown attempt but Doyle pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Davidson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Doyle to score an easy takedown into full guard. Davidson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Davidson is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davidson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Doyle is one step ahead there. Davidson uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Doyle drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doyle is posturing up here but Davidson has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Doyle tries to roll out but it's too tight and Doyle has to tap! Slick submission there by Davidson!
