The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Filter fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Maverick, pushing him back against the cage.
Filter throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mavericks head.
Filter lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Maverick tries to pull guard but Filter holds him up against the cage and eventually Maverick drops back down to his feet.
Filter scores with a shoulder strike.
Maverick throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Filter gets through Maverick's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Filter tries to throw a body punch but Maverick avoids it by throwing Filter back against the cage.
Maverick trying to control the position but instead, Filter has worked for underhooks and has pushed Maverick into the cage.
Filter working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Filter tries a body shot but Maverick blocks it.
I was talking to Maverick's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Maverick jumps guard but Filter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Maverick seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Filter is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.
Filter's coach down at Soul Supremacy LA Elite was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Filter's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Maverick misses with a knee to the head.
Filter lands a hook to the side of the head.

Maverick jumps guard but Filter turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Maverick. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maverick is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Filter is defending well for now.
Filter lands a left hand.
Maverick fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Filter works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Maverick is breathing heavily.

Filter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Maverick darts in trying to clinch
and Filter counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Filter takes the fight into the clinch.
Filter makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Maverick tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Filter smiles and moves away.
Filter closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Maverick! Filter dives in looking to finish! Maverick is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
