Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bull keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Velasquez bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Velasquez working away.
Bull is trying to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bull is working hard here to advance position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Velasquez working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Velasquez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bull is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Bull parries the strikes from Velasquez easily there. Velasquez is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bull to escape.
Velasquez misses with the ground and pound.
Bull is trying to improve his position.
An elbow from Velasquez crashes against the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Velasquez lands a nice forearm strike.
Velasquez works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Velasquez in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Velasquez goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Bull has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Velasquez but great work by Bull.
Velasquez manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Bull is not content to let Velasquez control the position.
Velasquez not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Bull controlling the position for now.
Velasquez missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Velasquez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bull keeps working.
Velasquez thows a huge punch but Bull dodges it nicely.
Velasquez sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bull defending well though.

Velasquez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Bull moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Bull really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Velasquez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Velasquez throws a strike but Bull rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Velasquez is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Bull rolls with it to try and escape but Velasquez cranks on the arm and Bull is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cain Velasquez!
Cain Velasquez is the new heavyweight champion!
A very excited looking Cain Velasquez made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
