Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Planck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Rooster by Alice In Chains. Max Planck acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Kent! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Planck! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Planck dodges the punch combination from Kent.
A combination from Planck does no damage. Kent shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kent showed some decent athleticism there. Planck has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Finch Farm. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Planck avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kent is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Planck is just riding it out for now. Kent eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are battling for position here. Planck manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Planck manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kent manages to get himself to full guard.
Planck controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Planck tries to free his leg and advance position but Kent is retaining full guard. Kent pulls Planck in close to prevent any damage. Kent is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Planck is aware though and is defending well. Planck throws a big right hand that misses. Planck slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Planck throws an elbow but Kent slips to the side and avoids it well. Kent is trying to control Planck's posture but Planck avoids it. Kent tries to bench press Planck off him but Planck keeps the position. The referee asks Planck politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Planck prefers to stall for the moment though. Planck wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kent, who protects the arm well. Kent prevents Planck from improving position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kent tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Planck wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Planck slows the pace down. Kent is trying to improve his position. Planck wants to control but Kent is keeping him busy. Planck tries to move into full mount but can't pass Kent's legs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Planck staying calm. Planck wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kent keeps working.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Planck has hold of Kent's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kent tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Planck cranks the arm and Kent screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kent, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Max Planck!
