Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chris Seamon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Layne Staley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Staley has chosen The Rooster as his entrance music. Chris Seamon could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Layne Staley's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Seamon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Layne Staley! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Colin Fray and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Staley keeps the fight on the outside. Excellent takedown into side control there by Staley. Staley trying to control the position but Seamon is working away. Seamon is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Staley content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Staley looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Seamon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Seamon tries to kick Staley off but Staley keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Staley is looking to take a break and control but Seamon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Seamon is trying to stand back up but Staley is controlling him
Seamon wants to get back to full guard. Seamon wants to get back to his feet.
Staley lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Staley perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Seamon wants to get back to his feet. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Seamon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Staley pulls his head out easily. Staley controlling the action here. Staley landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Staley not doing much here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Layne Staley was stalling too much, according to the referee. Staley drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Staley content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Seamon is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Staley taking a breather here. Seamon prevents Staley from moving into mount. Seamon is trying to buck Staley off. Staley decides to stand back up. Staley lands a high kick!
Chris Seamon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Seamon has a takedown stuffed. A cross from Staley lands. Excellent takedown into side control there by Staley. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Staley is looking to take a break and control but Seamon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Staley is staying tight to Seamon's torso, preventing him from escaping. Staley decides to take the fight back to the feet. Staley gets a clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Staley lands a good knee to the midsection. Seamon won't want to take too many of those.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Seamon is trying to pull guard but Staley has him pressed against the cage. Staley stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Seamon jumps guard but Staley stands there with Seamon around his waist. Seamon gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Seamon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Staley ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Staley no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Staley trying to control the position here. Staley is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Staley is keen to just control but Seamon is a slippery customer. Staley moves nicely into side control. Staley slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Seamon. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Layne Staley dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Seamon tries to land a front kick but Staley steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Seamon is defended easily by Staley. Seamon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Staley pinned against the cage. Staley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Staley closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Seamon's guard. Staley is stalling in the full guard. Seamon working for a triangle but Staley defends it easily.
Staley pushes down on Seamon's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staley is trying for a kimura here. Seamon looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Staley wins by kimura!
