PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Steve Seamon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owen Sleater (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Seamon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Owen Sleater!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seamon has managed to clinch.
Seamon is working for takedown but Sleater is calmly controlling the position for now.

Sleater gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Seamon regains guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sleater wants to stand and escape but instead Seamon has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Seamon postures up and lands a big shot to Sleater's brow.
Seamon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sleater works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Seamon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Sleater working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Seamon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Seamon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sleater is looking for a triangle but Seamon pushes his legs off easily.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sleater has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Seamon off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Seamon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sleater avoids it really well and circles away.

and Sleater counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sleater scores with a head kick. Seamon tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Seamon doesn't manage to clinch there - Sleater circles away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Owen Sleater is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sleater throws a head kick that Seamon semi-blocks.
Seamon shoots in for a takedown but Sleater shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Seamon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Seamon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Seamon is breathing heavily.
Seamon fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Steve Seamon will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Sleater counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Seamon is lucky that one didn't land flush.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Seamon. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sleater avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sleater lands the left hand.


Seamon is rocked!
Sleater looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Sleater backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Seamon's temple! It sends Seamon violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Sleater celebrates and the doctors try to help Seamon!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Owen Sleater!
