Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bobby Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Silva!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva is chipping away with strikes.
Smith is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Silva has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Smith is trying to control Silva's posture but Silva avoids it.
Smith is not content to let Silva control the position.
Smith wants to control but Silva postures up.
Silva tries to move into full mount but can't pass Smith's legs.
Silva advances to full mount.

Smith can't escape the position.
Silva cracks Smith with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Poor strikes thrown by Silva there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Smith is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Smith is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Pain that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Smith is desperately trying to improve his position but Silva has a good base and remains in mount.
Silva misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Silva throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Smith tries to reverse the position but Silva maintains control.

Silva goes for an armbar but Smith turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Smith.

Smith won't allow Silva to sweep him here.
Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Smith avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Silva looking for a sweep. Not yet Silva, not yet.
Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Smith controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.

Smith wants to stand but Silva has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Smith defends it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Silva dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Smith throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Silva feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Silva changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Silva postures up and lands a big shot to Smith's brow.

Smith avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

We're going to have a standup here because Bobby Smith wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Smith blocks the body kick.
Bobby Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Smith pushes Silva up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith scores with a nice hook to the head.
Silva taking a breather.
Silva fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Silva keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Silva throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bobby Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith misses with a double jab.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.

Smith gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
A nice right hand lands inside from Smith.
Smith takes a knee to the side of the body.

Silva tries to pull guard but Smith won't allow it.
Bobby Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Silva.
Smith prevents a body shot from Silva.
Smith scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Smith tries to work over Silva's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Smith tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Silva jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Smith walks away with a smile on his face. Silva gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Silva gets a takedown into half guard.
Silva working over Smith with some ground and pound. Smith looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Smith kicks off Silva and gets to his feet.
Smith chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Silva throws a hook to the side of Smith's head but Smith sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Silva.
Silva avoids the body shot from Smith.
Smith tests Silva's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
Silva is breathing heavily.

Smith gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Silva takes a knee to the side of the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Smith.

Smith lands a hook to the side of the head.
A body shot lands from Smith.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Silva's head.
Silva drops his hands momentarily and Smith takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Smith.
Smith scores with a shot to the body.

Oooooh!!! Smith has knocked Silva down with a huge combo! Smith steps away and waves a wobbly Silva back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Silva is rocked!
Smith lands a brutal uppercut that launches Silva off his feet! Silva tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Bobby Smith!
During a confident post fight interview, Bobby Smith thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
