PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Clemente Warner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Weidman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weidman has chosen It's my Life-Bon Jovi as his entrance music. Chris Weidman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Clemente Warner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris Weidman!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warner throws a head kick that misses.

Warner scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Warner really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Warner wants to pass to mount but Weidman is defending the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Warner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Weidman on the ground.

Warner takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Warner tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Weidman.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Clemente Warner wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Nice takedown defense from Weidman. No joy for Warner on that attempt.
Weidman scores with a sloppy right hand. Warner should have avoided that one.
Weidman shoots for a takedown but Warner saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Weidman manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Warner manages to get himself to full guard.

That's time! Warner's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Weidman lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Weidman.


It looks like Clemente Warner has been cut.
Weidman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Warner counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Weidman's guard now.

Warner has control of Weidman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Weidman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Warner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Warner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Warner really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Weidman.

You can see the frustration on Weidman's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Warner gets tackled into the cage by Weidman. Weidman maintains the clinch.
Weidman lands with a left to the head.
Weidman tries to circle away but Warner has him pinned against the cage.

Weidman misses with a short punch on the inside.
Weidman wants to break free but Warner has control.
Weidman looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Warner drags the fight down to the ground.
Warner pulls Weidman in close to prevent any damage.

Warner avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Weidman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Warner's guard.

Weidman passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Warner!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Warner is rocked!

Weidman is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Warner is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Warner flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Weidman anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Warner and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Weidman slips an arm under Warner chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Weidman has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Weidman is squeezing on Warner like an anaconda would it's prey. Warner fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chris Weidman!
A very excited looking Chris Weidman made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
