Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bazza Corderer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Corderer has chosen WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Abbott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bazza Corderer!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abbott tries to sprawl but Corderer drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Corderer is trying to control the action in half guard but Abbott is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Abbott wants to get back to full guard.
Corderer is looking to take a break and control but Abbott is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Corderer tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Abbott.
Corderer is trying to control the action in half guard but Abbott is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Bazza Corderer.
Abbott tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Corderer counters with a nice leg kick.
Corderer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Corderer displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Abbott.
Abbott shoots in and drives through. Corderer sprawls well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Corderer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Abbott.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Abbott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Corderer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Abbott moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Corderer misses with a double jab

and Abbott counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Corderer!
Corderer wants to control but Abbott postures up.
Corderer is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Sloppy strikes there by Abbott.

Corderer sneaks out the side door and pushes Abbott away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Abbott throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Corderer's waist but Corderer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Abbott off to one side.
Abbott has a takedown stuffed.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A head kick by Abbott misses

and Corderer counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Corderer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Corderer closes this distance looking for a takedown but Abbott circles away.
Corderer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Abbott has his takedown stuffed
and Corderer counters with a left to the body.
Abbott is breathing heavily.
Abbott throws a head kick but Corderer moves out of range.
Corderer stuffs the takedown.
Corderer with a nice cross.
Corderer throws a right and a left that Abbott avoids nicely.

Corderer dives in and scores a takedown into Abbott's guard.
Corderer postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Corderer is working Abbott over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Corderer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Abbott, up you get!
Corderer misses with a wild body shot.
Abbott misses with a takedown attempt
and Corderer counters with a right hand to the body.

Corderer gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Corderer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Corderer misses with a head kick.

Abbott gets tackled into the cage by Corderer. Corderer maintains the clinch.
Abbott is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Corderer to keep the fight standing.
Abbott is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Corderer pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Corderer manages to break the clinch.
Abbott wants to clinch
and Corderer counters with a left and a right that stings Abbott.

Corderer moves into the clinch.
Abbott tries to circle away but Corderer has him pinned against the cage.

Corderer breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Abbott misses with a double jab.

Corderer moves into the clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Abbott.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Abbott tries to circle away but Corderer has him pinned against the cage.
Abbott pushes off an throws an elbow but Corderer leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Abbott.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bazza Corderer dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Corderer darts in and clinches Abbott up against the cage.
Abbott lands a body shot in the clinch.

Corderer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Corderer closes the distance and clinches.
Abbott is trying to pull guard but Corderer has him pressed against the cage.
Corderer prevents a takedown attempt there.

Corderer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Abbott shoots in for a double leg but Corderer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Abbott. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Corderer.
Bazza Corderer has got the better of the ground game so far.
Abbott is looking to reverse the position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Corderer has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Corderer pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Abbott avoids the head kick by Corderer.
Corderer throws a head kick but Abbott moves out of range.
Ivan Abbott is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Abbott misses the jab.
Corderer throws a front kick that sends Abbott stumbling back into the cage.
Corderer moves out of range as Abbott throws a body kick.
Abbott dives in for a single leg takedown but Corderer sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Corderer has Abbott pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Corderer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Abbott tumbling to the mat - Corderer dives into Abbott's guard.
Abbott controls Corderer momentarily but Corderer frees himself.

Corderer stays in close to Abbott's body and controls the position.
Corderer wants to get up but he can't break Abbott's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Corderer seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Abbott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bazza Corderer was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Corderer throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Corderer clinches with his opponent.

Corderer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Corderer goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Some wild striking there from Abbott.
Nice jab there from Corderer.
Abbott tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Horrible takedown by Abbott or perhaps it was just good defense by Corderer which made him look bad.

Corderer closes the distance and clinches.

Corderer breaks from the clinch.
Corderer swats away the attempt to clinch by Abbott.
Corderer throws out a powerful jab.
Corderer goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Corderer - that will leave a mark!
Abbott moves in looking to clinch but Corderer pushes him off.
Corderer lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Abbott lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Abbott moves out of range as Corderer strikes.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Corderer.
Abbott looks to land a body kick but Corderer moved away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bazza Corderer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Bazza Corderer seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Abbott fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Corderer avoids it really well and circles away.

Corderer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Abbott on his heels. He'll look to pass Abbott's guard now, I'm sure.
Corderer controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Corderer forces his way into half guard.
Corderer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The fighters are battling for position here. Abbott manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Abbott controls Corderer momentarily but Corderer frees himself.
Corderer is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Abbott could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Abbott wants to get back to his feet but Corderer is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Corderer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Abbott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Abbott gets caught napping as Corderer dives in and scores a takedown. Abbott manages to retain guard.
Abbott is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Corderer is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Corderer has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Abbott is proving hard to escape from.
Corderer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Bazza Corderer hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Corderer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Abbott is fending him off so far but Corderer persists. Nope, Abbott circles away and we're back to standing.
Abbott drops his hands momentarily and Corderer takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Abbott darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Abbott closes this distance looking for a takedown but Corderer circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Abbott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Abbott misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Abbott will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A chopping leg kick lands by Corderer.
Abbott takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Abbott moves into the clinch.

Corderer manages to break the clinch.
Corderer scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Abbott fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bazza Corderer is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Corderer throws a good cross that connects.
Ivan Abbott has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Abbott avoids a kick to the body.

Bazza Corderer comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Corderer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Bazza Corderer decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
