Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack In The Box! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! In The Box takes a swing at Smith's ribcage but misses. In The Box ducks under a wild hook from Smith. Smith throws a hook but In The Box blocks it. Smith misses the jab. Smith lands with a nice body punch. Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but In The Box moves away. In The Box tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range. In The Box moves out of range of the strikes. Smith lands with a hook. In The Box tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. In The Box throws a right hand that Smith ducks under and follows up with a left that Smith also avoids with ease. Smith swings for the body but In The Box moves out of range.
Smith drops In The Box with a big left hand and mounts him. In The Box is in big trouble!
In The Box is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. You get the feeling that In The Box really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. In The Box is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. In The Box working to try and regain half guard.
In The Box is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith controlling from mount. In The Box tries to hold on but Smith postures up. In The Box is wriggling around trying to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Smith controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. In The Box tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. In The Box tries to reverse the position but Smith maintains control. Smith controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Smith dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
A slow jab from Smith misses its intended target. Smith steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from In The Box. That one must have hurt. Smith loads up on a big right hand but In The Box slips the punch. Smith looks to land a left hand but In The Box moved out of range nicely. Donk. Smith catches In The Box right on the button with a cross. An inside leg kick lands from In The Box. Smith cracks In The Box with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. In The Box takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Smith lands with a straight right. In The Box didn't see that one coming. Smith's corner calls for a 1-2. Smith obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by In The Box. Smith throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and In The Box counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's one minute gone in the round. In The Box changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. In The Box misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Smith struggling a bit here. Smith tries to escape but In The Box is in control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. In The Box looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's two minutes gone in the round. In The Box sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Smith is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
In The Box decides to stand up, so the ref orders Smith to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A left and a right from Smith both land. Nice combination. In The Box tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range. In The Box tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away. In The Box moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. In The Box takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. In The Box tries to clinch but Smith is having none of it. In The Box tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance. Smith feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends In The Box sprawling to the canvas! In The Box rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Smith finish him?!
In The Box is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him? This has been an exciting period of action! Smith throws an uppercut from hell that sends In The Box clean off his feet! He's out cold! Smith stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). John Smith!
