Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robin Lehner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sirodom Kingchanklao! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A bone on bone clash there as Lehner blocks the leg kick.
Kingchanklao takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Kingchanklao throws a leg kick but Lehner moved away. Lehner throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Kingchanklao takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Kingchanklao throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Kingchanklao connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Sirodom Kingchanklao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kingchanklao is looking to clinch. Kingchanklao misses with a kick to the body.
Kingchanklao closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Kingchanklao moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Kingchanklao misses with a straight right. Lehner misses the jab. Lehner's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kingchanklao under the eye. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Good work by Lehner as he checks the leg kick. A head kick misses from Kingchanklao. Kingchanklao throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lehner checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Kingchanklao attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Lehner shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kingchanklao manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Kingchanklao is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Lehner advances position into side control! Lehner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kingchanklao is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kingchanklao regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lehner tries to pass to full mount but Kingchanklao defends it. Lehner not landing any meaningful shots this time. Lehner passes to side control. Lehner wants to control but Kingchanklao is keeping him busy. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kingchanklao parries the strikes from Lehner easily there. Lehner is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kingchanklao to escape.
An elbow from Lehner crashes against the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lehner scores with a couple of short elbows. Lehner fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Lehner goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kingchanklao rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Lehner's guard! Nice work there by Kingchanklao! Kingchanklao must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Kingchanklao has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lehner is proving hard to escape from. Lehner looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Kingchanklao stopping the sweep attempt from Lehner. Lehner has his foot on Kingchanklao's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kingchanklao works his way back into a safe position though. Lehner looking for a sweep. Not yet Lehner, not yet. Lehner trying to keep a closed guard but Kingchanklao is proving a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lehner has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Kingchanklao should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Lehner has tightened it up now! Kingchanklao should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Robin Lehner! Robin Lehner really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Fury Nutrition Inc. logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
