PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Eldon Mack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kok Nos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kok Nos was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eldon Mack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kok Nos!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mack shoots in but no luck this time.

Nos closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nos lands in his opponent's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Nos stands up and waves to Mack to follow him.
Mack shoots in and drives through. Nos sprawls well.
A combination from Nos does no damage.
Mack shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nos as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eldon Mack. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mack looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Nos trying to control the action but Mack is working from the bottom.

Nos working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Nos taking a break here but Mack is having none of it and regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nos is keen to just control but Mack is a slippery customer.
Mack throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Nos trying to control from Mack's half guard. Mack has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Nos looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Mack working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Mack is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Nos is pushing down on Mack's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mack is fighting to maintain full guard but Nos has managed to sneak the leg through.
Mack really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nos throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Nos is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mack!

Mack wants to hold on but Nos pushes him away.
Nos tries to control but Mack wriggling away.
Mack working to try and regain half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nos is landing with some decent strikes but Mack is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Nos is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mack can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Mack is trying to stand up.
Nos wants to control the pace but Mack is squirming around nicely.
Mack working to try and regain half guard.
Nos controlling the position easily from mount.

Nos with good strikes from the mount here!
Nos tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Nos tries to control but Mack wriggling away.
Nos landing strikes from the mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mack is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Nos wants to control the pace but Mack is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kok Nos dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Nos throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mack's waist but Mack gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nos off to one side.
Nos throws a sloppy head kick

and Mack moves into the clinch.
Nos jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mack walks away with a smile on his face. Nos gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mack tries to clinch but Nos is having none of it.
Mack misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mack pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Nos slips a jab and a cross from Mack.

Nos closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Nos is looking to take a break and control but Mack is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mack is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nos wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Mack uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Nos trying to move into half guard but instead Mack has managed to sweep!
Mack wants to control from the top but Nos keeps moving.
Mack slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Mack has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Nos is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nos has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mack is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Nos.
Mack tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
You can see the frustration on Nos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Nos is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Mack keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Nos misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Mack stands up from half guard.

Nos looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Mack!
Mack is looking for a sweep.
Nos looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Mack is avoiding damage well.
Nos controls the position.

Nos wants to control but Mack is keeping him busy.
Mack stops Nos from passing to mount.
Nos with the ground and pound but Mack regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nos throwing shots but Mack is blocking nicely.
Mack wants to improve his position but Nos is controlling well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nos wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mack keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kok Nos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Nos throws a right and a left that Mack avoids nicely.
Mack stuffs the takedown.
Mack shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nos as he jumps to the side.
Nos fails with a takedown attempt.
Mack moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Nos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Eldon Mack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kok Nos.
Mack shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Nos pinned against the cage. Nos gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Eldon Mack is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Nos clinches with his opponent.

Mack is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Mack blocks a body shot from Nos.
Nos throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Mack pulls guard.
Nos wants to stand but Mack is controlling his posture from full guard.
Nos stops Mack from standing up.
Nos stands and throws Mack's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mack tries to strike but it doesn't land.

Nos decides to stand back up.
Nos throws a head kick but Mack moves out of range.
Nos takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Nos closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mack did well to prevent Nos getting side control.
Mack wants to control but Nos is keeping busy.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mack tries to kick Nos off but Nos keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kok Nos has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nos keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Mack misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mack keeps the fight on the outside.
A punch combination from Nos misses.
Horrible takedown by Mack or perhaps it was just good defense by Nos which made him look bad.
Nos shoots in looking for a takedown. Mack tries to sprawl out of it but Nos keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mack manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nos changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mack tries to avoid it but Nos manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mack to the ground. Mack escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mack tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Nos defends well and Mack ends up having to push Nos into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Eldon Mack has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Mack gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kok Nos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Nos winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
