PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Metis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Metis's entrance music is Right Now - Van Halen. A fine choice. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthew Metis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adam Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Metis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Metis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wilson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Wilson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Metis trying to control but Wilson is working from the bottom.
Metis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Wilson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Metis is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Wilson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Metis's back instead.
Metis is trying to break free.

Wilson has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Metis has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Wilson doesn't have the hooks in and Metis manages to turn into his guard.
Metis throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wilson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Metis drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Metis jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Metis not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Metis wants to pass the guard but Wilson is keeping the position.
Wilson wants to improve his position but instead Metis has moved into half guard.
Wilson tries to get to full guard but Metis has control of the leg.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Metis is looking for a kimura here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wilson wants to clinch up but Metis keeps it at a distance.
Adam Wilson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Metis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wilson as he jumps to the side.
Metis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Metis is breathing heavily.
Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Metis swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Metis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Wilson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Metis changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Wilson fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wilson manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Metis wants to work for an arm triangle but Wilson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Metis uses his free foot to push down on Wilson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Wilson.

Wilson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Wilson is trying to reverse the position but instead Metis has taken his back - oops!

That was a close round but I would say that Matthew Metis will probably get the nod.
That's time! Metis's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Metis is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wilson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Metis lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Metis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Metis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Wilson stops Metis from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Metis with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wilson is in all sorts of trouble here.

Metis has hold of Wilson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Wilson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Adam Wilson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Metis has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
