Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Vladimir Kunitskiy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Yancy Malaki!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Malaki throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Malaki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kunitskiy moves away.
Malaki lands a jab.
Kunitskiy moves out of range of the strikes.
Kunitskiy walks into a left hand.
Kunitskiy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Malaki as he avoids it easily.
Malaki misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kunitskiy.
Malaki misses with a looping left.
Malaki swings for the body but Kunitskiy moves out of range.

Kunitskiy scores with the left hand. Malaki knows he should have avoided that one.
Kunitskiy avoids a punch combination nicely.
We've been hearing reports that Kunitskiy has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kunitskiy, as that shot connected.

Yancy Malaki is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Horrible takedown by Kunitskiy or perhaps it was just good defense by Malaki which made him look bad.
Kunitskiy walks into a jab.
Malaki throws a sloppy body shot

Malaki on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kunitskiy. Kunitskiy obviously looking to wear him down.

Malaki swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kunitskiy.
Kunitskiy tries for a takedown but Malaki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Malaki throws a looping overhand right but Kunitskiy ducks down to avoid it.

Kunitskiy throws a lazy right hand but Malaki sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kunitskiy takes a swing at Malaki's ribcage but misses.
Malaki thows a left - swing and a miss!
Malaki bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kunitskiy's head backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kunitskiy takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Kunitskiy moves forwards but Malaki connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Malaki throws a right hand that misses

and Kunitskiy counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Malaki tries to break the clinch but Kunitskiy is controlling the position.
Kunitskiy softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Malaki tries to break free but Kunitskiy pushes him back against the cage.
Malaki is looking to break free of the clinch but Kunitskiy has double underhooks.
Malaki blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Malaki stalling in the clinch but Kunitskiy improves position.
Malaki tries to circle away but Kunitskiy has him pinned against the cage.

Kunitskiy misses with a hook to the ribs.

Malaki pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Malaki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Yancy Malaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fighters circling - Kunitskiy throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Kunitskiy looking to score a takedown here. Malaki is defending well but Kunitskiy drives through and ends up in Malaki's guard.
Kunitskiy trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Malaki manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Malaki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kunitskiy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Malaki got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kunitskiy has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Malaki has managed to get both his arms back between Kunitskiy's legs - danger averted.
Kunitskiy has a closed guard, preventing Malaki from standing up.
Kunitskiy is trying to control the position but Malaki postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Malaki has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kunitskiy to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Malaki is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kunitskiy pulls down on the head and he's put Malaki to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Vladimir Kunitskiy!
A less than humble Vladimir Kunitskiy misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
