Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dane Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross has chosen Swedish House Mafia-One as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dane Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Ross!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kane fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ross avoids it really well and circles away.
Ross scores with a jab to the jaw.
Danga de danga de dang - Ross scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like Dane Kane has been cut.
An inside leg kick lands from Ross.
Ross lands a slapping body shot.
Ross wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Kane takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kane shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ross defends it nicely.
Kane throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ross.
Ross scores with a jab.
Kane looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ross misses the shot to the body.
Ross fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The crowd cheers as Ross lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kane doesn't seem phased though.

Kane has Ross up against the cage in a clinch.
Ross told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight.

Ross throws a head punch that misses.
A head punch on the inside from Ross fails to land.

Ross has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Ross is trying to break the clinch but Kane has him pressed against the cage.
Ross misses with the head strike.

Kane breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Kane fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ross sprawls well initially but Kane persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ross tries to get to full guard but Kane has control of the leg.
Ross has a hand on Kane's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Kane takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Ross is working to get back to half guard.

Kane has hold of Ross's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ross manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Kane prevents Ross from getting the reversal.

Ross is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kane takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Ross bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kane wants to stand up but Ross is controlling him.

Ross is looking to work some ground and pound but Kane has wrist control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ross accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kane wants to stand but Ross is controlling the position.
Ross is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Ross lands a couple of elbows.
Kane wants to sweep but no luck.
Kane preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Kane thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Kane is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ross postures up in Kane's guard and throws a big left but Kane blocks it.
Kane working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ross.
Kane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ross on the ground.
Ross postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Ross postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Ross with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ross preventing the sweep.
Ross slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ross has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ground and pound from Ross seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ross thuds his right hand into Kane's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Ross pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ross looks to land a combination but Kane avoids it well.
Kane steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ross.
Ross takes a swing at Kane's ribcage but misses.
Ross lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kane circles away quickly and effectively.

Kane moves into the clinch successfully.
Ross lands a hook to the side of the head.

Kane breaks the clinch.
Ross misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kane wants to clinch but Ross slips to the side
and Ross counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ross throws a head kick that misses.
Kane ducks under a wild hook from Ross.

Kane shoots in for a takedown but Ross shows good takedown defense.
Kane fails with a takedown attempt.
Ross's corner calls for a 1-2. Ross obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Ross throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kane.
James Ross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ross's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kane under the eye.

Kane feints and as Ross raises his hands in defense, Kane changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Ross is looking for a triangle but Kane pushes his legs off easily.

Kane content to control rather than advance.
Kane is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ross tries to kick Kane off but Kane keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kane perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kane has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ross looks like he's trying to stand up.
Ross regains full guard. Nicely done.

Ross is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dane Kane just wasn't active enough.

Kane looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kane is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ross has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kane seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ross does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Ross wants to get back to his feet.
Kane wants to free his trapped foot but Ross is holding on for dear life with his legs.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kane lands a nice short elbow.

Kane steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ross. That one must have hurt.

Kane darts in and clinches Ross up against the cage.
Ross scores with a nice hook to the head.

Kane pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Good exchange - Ross coming out on top.
Ross misses the shot to the body.
That kick from Ross tenderised Kane's leg. Kane is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kane shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ross as he jumps to the side.
Kane shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ross pinned against the cage. Ross gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kane misses with a head kick.
Ross lands a jab to the nose.
Kane has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dane Kane. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ross connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kane's hands.

Ross misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ross smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Ross throws a body punch but Kane moves out of range.

Kane moves into the clinch.
Ross can't find room to land a body shot as Kane controls the action.
Ross misses with a knee to the head.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Ross.
Ross cracks Kane with a nice body shot.
Ross misses with a punch to the body.

Kane ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kane no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ross pushes down on Kane's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ross is trying to work for a kimura but Kane is defending well.
Ross takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kane avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ross.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kane has hold of Ross's hands but Ross slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kane tries to roll over but Ross keeps him under control.
Kane wants to control but Ross is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Ross has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kane is in all sorts of trouble here.

Ross looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Oh Kane is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ross in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Ross! Kane is hurt baaadly! Ross is firing away with more strikes - Kane is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Ross!
A very excited looking James Ross made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
