Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between AL Lickertwat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Brooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Brooks's choice of entrance music: Tom Sawyer. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, AL Lickertwat! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tyler Brooks! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lickertwat misses with a wild body shot. Nice jab there from Lickertwat. Tyler Brooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brooks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Brooks looks to land a left hand but Lickertwat moved out of range nicely. Brooks shoots in looking for a takedown. Lickertwat tries to sprawl out of it but Brooks keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lickertwat manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Lickertwat lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lickertwat drives through with a takedown into Brooks's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Lickertwat throws a big right hand that misses. Lickertwat avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Brooks has momentary wrist control but Lickertwat slips an elbow through the middle. Brooks working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lickertwat. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lickertwat throwing strikes from guard but Brooks blocks nicely. Lickertwat distracts Brooks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Brooks trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Lickertwat postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Lickertwat showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Lickertwat trying to control but Brooks is working from the bottom. Lickertwat is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Brooks is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Lickertwat trying to control the position from guard on top but Brooks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lickertwat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lickertwat avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Lickertwat sitting in guard, not really doing much. Brooks has his foot on Lickertwat's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lickertwat works his way back into a safe position though. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lickertwat postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Lickertwat stands up over Brooks, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lickertwat accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Brooks is looking to sweep but instead, Lickertwat has passed into half guard.
Brooks looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brooks keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Brooks looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. AL Lickertwat dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Lickertwat connects with a good right hand that stumbles Brooks. Brooks circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Brooks shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Brooks was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Lickertwat is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Lickertwat is doing well to control the position and prevent Brooks from advancing to side control. Brooks is thwarting Lickertwat's attempts to control the position. Lickertwat is looking for a sweep. Brooks is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. AL Lickertwat overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Lickertwat works his way to full guard. Good work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lickertwat is on top in guard.

Lickertwat controls Brooks momentarily but Brooks frees himself.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Lickertwat tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lickertwat looking for submissions from the bottom here.
