PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Meat Loaf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Uruhara Hatake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Loaf's entrance music is Eat My Loaf. A fine choice. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Meat Loaf!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Uruhara Hatake!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loaf turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Hatake closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
A bone on bone clash there as Hatake blocks the leg kick.
Loaf throws a good cross that connects.

Hatake lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Loaf sprawling to the canvas. Hatake follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Loaf hang on?


Loaf is rocked!


It looks like Meat Loaf has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hatake is nestled in close to Loaf, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Oh Loaf is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hatake is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Loaf seems to have got his legs back now.

Loaf is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hatake pulls his head out easily.

Hatake is working for a submission of some sort.
Hatake takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Loaf trying to keep a closed guard but Hatake is proving a slippery customer.
Loaf is really struggling to control Hatake but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hatake looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hatake trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Hatake stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Loaf swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hatake trying to control the position from guard on top but Loaf is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hatake pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Loaf is keeping the position for now.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hatake shoots in for a takedown but Loaf shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Loaf closes the distance and pushes Hatake back into the cage.
Hatake blocks an uppercut.
Loaf tries to throw a body punch but Hatake avoids it by throwing Loaf back against the cage.

Loaf has picked Hatake up - he's going for a ride! Loaf dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Hatake keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Loaf scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Hatake tries to get to full guard but Loaf has control of the leg.

Loaf is trying to control. Hatake wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Loaf thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hatake manages to get to full guard.
Loaf postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Hatake keeping moving, preventing Loaf from controlling successfully.

Hatake looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Loaf wants to pass the guard but Hatake is keeping the position.
Hatake has momentary wrist control but Loaf slips an elbow through the middle.
Loaf postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Loaf working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Loaf cracks Hatake with a solid left hand.
Loaf with a flurry of punches that miss.

Hatake escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Loaf gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Uruhara Hatake will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Meat Loaf's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Hatake keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Loaf has taken the fight to the clinch.
Hatake tries to pull guard but Loaf forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Loaf misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Loaf tightens his grip and picks Hatake up, before dumping him to the ground. Hatake manages to land in guard.
Loaf has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Loaf is looking to work some ground and pound but Hatake has wrist control.
Loaf sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Loaf got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hatake has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Loaf has managed to get both his arms back between Hatake's legs - danger averted.
Loaf postures up in Hatake's guard and throws a big left but Hatake blocks it.
Loaf wants to control from the top but Hatake keeps moving.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Loaf accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Loaf trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Hatake escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Loaf gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Loaf wants to control from the top but Hatake keeps moving.
Hatake is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Hatake had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Loaf defends it easily.

Loaf wants to control from the top but Hatake keeps moving.

Hatake has his foot on Loaf's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Loaf works his way back into a safe position though.

Hatake is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Loaf defends well.
We've been hearing good reports from Loaf's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Loaf lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Loaf wants to pass the guard but Hatake is keeping the position.
Loaf stands up over Hatake, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Loaf postures up in Hatake's guard and throws a big left but Hatake blocks it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Loaf is in close to Hatake's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Loaf in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Loaf might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Loaf is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hatake has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Loaf is looking to defend but Hatake has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Loaf! Hatake pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Loaf taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Uruhara Hatake!
Uruhara Hatake is the new bantamweight champion!
During a confident post fight interview, Uruhara Hatake thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Meat Loaf was interviewed post fight and said 'Back to the drawing board... Im out...'.
