Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Pimentel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and J R Crain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). J R Crain is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Pimentel !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, J R Crain!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pimentel connects with a right hand. Crain shakes it off.
Pimentel tries a low kick but Crain avoids it.
A low kick from Pimentel is predictable there
and Crain counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Pimentel instigates a clinch.
Pimentel is working Crain over against the cage.
Pimentel tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Pimentel trying to stall but Crain improves his position.
Crain is trying to break the clinch but Pimentel is controlling him.
Pimentel avoiding damage.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Crain.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Crain as Pimentel tries to tie him up.
Crain blocks an uppercut.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Crain pulls guard effortlessly.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Crain is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Crain wants to control but Pimentel passes easily into half guard.

Pimentel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Pimentel is keen to just control but Crain is a slippery customer.

Crain tries to get to full guard but Pimentel has control of the leg.

Crain is trying to stand.

Crain kicks off Pimentel and gets to his feet.
Pimentel feints a jab promting Crain to slip. Pimentel then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Crain slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pimentel throws a leg kick but Crain moved away.
Pimentel misses with a low kick.

Pimentel forces Crain back against the cage and clinches.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Crain's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Crain throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stalling in the clinch from Pimentel .
Pimentel throws an elbow that misses.
Crain is working for takedown but Pimentel is calmly controlling the position for now.
Crain wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
With the fighters up against the cage, Pimentel throws an elbow but misses.
The referee is keeping an eye on Pimentel - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Pimentel misses with a hook from the clinch.
Crain wants a takedown.
Crain lands a knee to the head.


It looks like John Pimentel has been cut.
Pimentel gets underhooks to prevent Crain's takedown attempt.
John Pimentel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of J R Crain.
Pimentel tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Crain's elbow.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pimentel can't find room to land a body shot as Crain controls the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Pimentel moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Crain fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pimentel avoids it really well and circles away.
Pimentel tries to work over Crain's front leg with a kick but Crain checks it.
Pimentel wants to clinch but Crain slips to the side

and Crain counters with a crisp one two that drops Pimentel ! Crain thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Pimentel to his feet! Pimentel is in big trouble!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Crain dives in and grabs Pimentel 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pimentel pushes down on Crain's head and hops out.
Pimentel wants to clinch.
Pimentel lands a two punch combo.
A left and a right from Pimentel both land. Nice combination.

Pimentel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Pimentel fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pimentel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Crain swats him away and circles back towards the center.
An inside leg kick from Pimentel misses.
Crain keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Pimentel clinches up with Crain and pushes him back against the cage.
Pimentel wants to stall.
Crain is trying to force a seperation but Pimentel has the dominant position.

Crain is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
John Pimentel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of J R Crain.

Pimentel trying to control the position from guard on top but Crain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Pimentel looking to sit in guard and control but Crain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Pimentel is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Crain stands up from Pimentel 's guard - Crain perhaps looking for a knockout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pimentel connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Pimentel lands with a nice combination. Crain backs away looking to recover.

Crain drives through and clinches with Pimentel against the cage.

Crain is working for takedown but Pimentel is calmly controlling the position for now.
Crain changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pimentel fights it off and pushes away nicely.
John Pimentel is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A looping hook to the body misses from Crain. Pimentel does a little dance to reset his feet.

Crain moves into range and clinches up with Pimentel .
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Pimentel swings wildly with an uppercut but Crain uses good head movement to avoid it.
Pimentel throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Crains head.
Pimentel lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Crain.
Crain jumps guard but Pimentel stands there with Crain around his waist. Crain gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Crain wants to control the position but Pimentel says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Crain trying to hold on to Pimentel 's head to control him but Pimentel postures up.

Pimentel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Crain is staying active underneath Pimentel , who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but J R Crain will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Pimentel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Crain on the side of the head.

and Crain counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Pimentel is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Crain drops down looking for an ankle pick but Pimentel pulls his leg out and moves away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Pimentel creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Pimentel throws a punch but it's blocked by Crain.
With the fighters up against the cage, Pimentel throws an elbow but misses.
Pimentel tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Pimentel lands an elbow inside that Crain shrugs off.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Pimentel has a couple of punches blocked by Crain.
Pimentel keeps control of Crain as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Crain looking to slow down the pace here.
Pimentel throws an elbow that misses.
Pimentel throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Crain blocks it with crossed arms.
John Pimentel has scored more points in the clinch so far.
Crain lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Pimentel backwards.

Pimentel throws a head punch that misses.
Crain lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Crain jumps guard and drags Pimentel to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Pimentel works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pimentel is keen to just control but Crain is a slippery customer.
Crain moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Pimentel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Crain swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Crain is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pimentel has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Pimentel looking to sit in guard and control but Crain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Pimentel is controlling Crain's posture.
Pimentel knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crain on the ground.
