Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darios Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darios Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patrick Cote!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Ellis as Cote shoots in.
Ellis wants to clinch up but Cote keeps it at a distance.
Ellis misses with an uppercut. Cote saw that one coming.

Cote decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Cote decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Cote takes the fight into the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Ellis scores with a nice short uppercut.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Cote keeps control of Ellis as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Cote tries to pull guard but Ellis forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Cote breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ellis throws a body kick that misses.
Ellis smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ellis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cote's head.

Ellis darts in and clinches Cote up against the cage.

Cote successfully pulls guard.
Ellis throws a big right hand that misses.
Ellis has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Ellis in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ellis trying to control but Cote is working from the bottom.
Cote tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Ellis wants to get up but he can't break Cote's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Ellis throws an elbow that misses. Cote uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ellis's guard. Nice move by Cote!

Ellis pushes Cote off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Ellis tries for a takedown but Cote circles away easily
and Cote counters with a nice body shot.
Cote avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Cote shoots in looking for a takedown. Ellis tries to sprawl out of it but Cote keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ellis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Darios Ellis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Cote.

Cote shoots in and drives through. Ellis sprawls well.
Ellis misses with a wild combination.
Ellis shoots in looking for a takedown but Cote manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ellis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Cote has closed the distance and engaged Ellis in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cote has hold of one of Ellis's legs. Ellis is fighting the takedown attempt but Cote gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Ellis looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Cote passes into side control.
Ellis is breathing heavily.

Cote has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Ellis dives in and grabs Cote's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cote pushes down on Ellis's head and hops out.
Ellis tries for a takedown but Cote sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cote's jab looks to have found its range, popping Ellis under the eye.
Ellis misses with the combination.
Cote slips a straight right by Ellis.

Cote gets the takedown into side control.

Cote looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Cote advances to full mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ellis is in a horrible position here. Cote smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Ellis is working to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cote controlling the pace for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Cote dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!



Cote takes the fight into the clinch.

Cote pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ellis looks to clinch
and Cote counters with a nice body kick.
Cote fails to land the takedown.
Ellis connects with a body shot.
Ellis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Cote as he jumps to the side.
Ellis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cote will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cote.
Darios Ellis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Cote.

Ellis thuds a left hand into Cote's body.
Cote tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ellis paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ellis pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Darios Ellis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cote fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ellis misses with a combination

and Cote moves into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Cote tries to score a body lock takedown but Ellis shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Ellis prevents the takedown attempt.

Ellis decides to pull guard.
Patrick Cote has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ellis has his foot on Cote's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cote works his way back into a safe position though.

Cote passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Cote is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ellis will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Cote decides to stand back up. Cote steps back and let's Ellis get back to his feet.

Cote shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ellis is trying to defend but Cote finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Cote is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Ellis has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ellis is concentrating on defense, preventing Cote from advancing position.
Cote slows the pace down in half guard.
Ellis trying to hold on to Cote's head to control him but Cote postures up.

Ellis regains full guard. Nicely done.

Ellis kicks Cote off and gets back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ellis swings away with a leg kick that misses.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ellis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ellis moves in looking to clinch but Cote pushes him off.
Ellis throws a right and a left that Cote avoids nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Patrick Cote showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

A looping hook to the body misses from Ellis. Cote does a little dance to reset his feet.
Cote tries to close the distance and clinch but Ellis swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ellis looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Ellis rushes Cote and presses him up against the cage.
Ellis looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Ellis misses with a punch to the body.
Cote can't get the takedown.
Ellis jumps guard but Cote stands there with Ellis around his waist. Ellis gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Cote presses Ellis against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Cote escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Darios Ellis is winning the standup battle so far.
A combination from Ellis does no damage.
Cote misses with a takedown attempt - Ellis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Cote is looking to take a break and control but Ellis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cote decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ellis throws a right hand that Cote ducks under and follows up with a left that Cote also avoids with ease.

Cote tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ellis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Cote has a takedown stuffed.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Cote.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cote.
Cote shoots for a takedown but Ellis saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Cote closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ellis quickly recovers to half guard.
Ellis is trying to stand back up but Cote is controlling him
Cote stalling.

Cote stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Ellis to get to his feet.

Ellis cracks a nice hook into Cote's ribs.
Cote tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ellis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Cote misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A punch combination from Ellis misses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ellis gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Cote stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Darios Ellis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Patrick Cote is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cote darts in looking for a takedown but Ellis gets double underhooks and turns Cote into the cage.

Patrick Cote comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
