Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ted Mcconnell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Weidman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Weidman has chosen Fixing a Broken Heart-A1 as his entrance music. Ted Mcconnell has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ted Mcconnell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Weidman!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weidman fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Weidman shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Weidman closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Weidman lands in his opponent's guard.
Mcconnell trying to control the position.

Mcconnell has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Weidman is on him like a limpet, forcing Mcconnell back against the cage.

Mcconnell got a little sloppy there for a moment and Weidman has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mcconnell has managed to get both his arms back between Weidman's legs - danger averted.

Mcconnell gets to his feet - Weidman follows without any prompting.

Mcconnell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Weidman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mcconnell somewhat.

Weidman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mcconnell wants to get back to full guard.
Mcconnell preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Mcconnell is pressing down on Weidman's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Mcconnell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Weidman is controlling him.

Weidman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Weidman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Mcconnell is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Weidman off and has taken his back!
Mcconnell has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Weidman's body.
Mcconnell is trying to stick to Weidman's back but Weidman is turning into Mcconnell. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Mcconnell's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Weidman.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Chris Weidman has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mcconnell is positioning himself well to prevent Weidman advancing to mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Weidman in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mcconnell tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Weidman!

In his post fight interview, Chris Weidman started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
