Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bob Dutko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, El Senor Rookie! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rookie throws a push kick but Dutko slaps the foot to one side. Rookie throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Dutko's head.
It looks like Bob Dutko has been cut. Rookie lands a big head kick that sends Dutko tumbling to the mat! Rookie takes a step backwards and waves Dutko back to his feet - he wants the finish! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dutko throws a half hearted mid kick. Rookie throws a head kick that misses. Rookie throws a head kick that misses. Dutko avoids the head kick by Rookie.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Rookie checks a leg kick. Rookie misses with a head kick.
Dutko lands a leg kick that knocks Rookie off balance momentarily. Dutko looks to land a body kick but Rookie moved away. Rookie misses with a low kick. Rookie on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Rookie looks to land a body kick but Dutko moved away. Rookie explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Dutko avoids the body shot from Rookie.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rookie throws out a loose jab but Dutko uses good head movement to avoid it. Dutko throws a nice inside leg kick. Dutko scores with a spinning back kick! Rookie throws a head kick that half lands.
Dutko swings away with a leg kick that misses. Dutko lands a nice looking kick to the body. Rookie takes a step back to recover. Rookie looks winded! Dutko throws a push kick but Rookie slaps the foot to one side. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Dutko throws a wild body kick that Rookie sees coming a mile off. El Senor Rookie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rookie on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Dutko throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Dutko is looking to land body kicks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. An inside leg kick from Dutko misses. Good leg kick by Rookie there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Rookie misses with a head kick.
Rookie throws a low kick but Dutko avoids it. Dutko is looking to chop away at Rookie's legs. Rookie's coach down at NEXUS GYM was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Rookie's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Dutko scores with a kick to the body.
Dutko closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rookie's guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Dutko drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dutko jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Dutko stops Rookie from standing up. Dutko slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. An elbow from Dutko crashes against the mat.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rookie can do anything to dispel that myth. Dutko wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Rookie, who protects the arm well. Rookie avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Dutko.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rookie is looking for a sweep. Rookie prevents Dutko from improving position. Rookie is looking to regain half guard here but Dutko keeps moving and retains side control. Dutko controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Dutko working the head with strikes. Dutko is working Rookie over with some ground and pound from side control. Dutko trying to control the position but Rookie is working away. Dutko lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Dutko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Dutko cracks Rookie with a big elbow. Rookie can't do much from the bottom here. Dutko trying to control the action but Rookie is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dutko lands a few punches from side control. Dutko working the head with strikes. Sloppy strikes there by Dutko. Dutko in side control lands a decent elbow. Rookie is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Dutko asserts his dominance and retains side control. Dutko wants to control but Rookie is keeping him busy. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Dutko working the ground and pound. Dutko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dutko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rookie is looking to reverse the position. Dutko is putting a hurting on Rookie here, landing some big shots from side control. Rookie is looking for a sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Dutko dominated that round. The cut man is working on Bob Dutko's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

El Senor Rookie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dutko dives in and grabs Rookie's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rookie pushes down on Dutko's head and hops out. Dutko shoots in and gets a takedown into Rookie's guard. Rookie can't keep his opponent in guard - Dutko advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Dutko slips a nice elbow through Rookie's hands, connecting with Rookie's forehead. Dutko throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Dutko prevents Rookie from improving his position. Rookie is trying to stand.
Rookie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dutko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Dutko wants to take a breather but Rookie is having none of it. This has been an exciting period of action! Dutko is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Dutko is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Rookie has managed to free his arm - good work. Rookie blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dutko.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dutko works his foot free and advances to mount. Dutko tries to control but Rookie wriggling away. Dutko punishing his opponent with strikes. BOOM! Dutko connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dutko cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rookie is rocked!
It looks like El Senor Rookie has been cut. Dutko softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Rookie is out cold! Dutko jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bob Dutko! Our winner, Bob Dutko, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
