Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gregg Sampson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Bo Frost! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sampson misses with a hook. Sampson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Frost manages to avoid it. We've been told by Sampson's head coaches at Cobra Kai Dojo that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Frost takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Frost throws a nice looking combination but Sampson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Frost tries to clinch but Sampson moves away and Sampson holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Sampson displaying some good clinch control by pressing Frost up against the cage. Frost tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Sampson smiles and moves away.
Nice straight punches there by Frost. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Frost. Frost tries to clinch and Sampson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Frost thinking. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Frost tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sampson swats him away and circles back towards the center. A telegraphed right hand from Frost misses the target. Sampson swings for the body but Frost moves out of range.
Frost misses the jab. Frost moves out of range of the body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sampson lands with a shot to the body. Sampson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Frost, pushing him back against the cage. Frost pulls Sampson into guard.
Sampson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Sampson stands and steps away. Frost gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. A looping hook to the body misses from Frost. Sampson does a little dance to reset his feet. Frost slips under a jab from Sampson. Frost on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Sampson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Sampson duly obliges. Sampson is looking to wear down Frost with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Frost takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Sampson tries to score with a low kick but Frost moves his leg out of the way. Frost displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sampson throws out the jab. Frost misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sampson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Frost takes a shot right to the bread basket. Frost looks winded! Sampson cracks Frost with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Sampson has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Frost to stand back up!
Frost is rocked! Sampson sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Frost's defenses. It connects perfectly with Frost's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gregg Sampson! A very excited looking Gregg Sampson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
