Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bud Hicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Elsker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elsker is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Remember The Name. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bud Hicks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Elsker!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hicks dives in and grabs Elsker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Elsker pushes down on Hicks's head and hops out.
Hicks really is a fat lump.
Elsker tries to clinch there but Hicks circles away.

Elsker gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hicks has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Elsker is proving hard to escape from.
Hicks slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hicks prevents Elsker from getting back to his feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Bud Hicks wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Hicks misses with a two punch combination.
Elsker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Hicks decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hicks content to control rather than advance.
Elsker is concentrating on defense, preventing Hicks from advancing position.
Hicks wants to get back to his feet.
Elsker wants to control but Hicks is keeping busy.

Elsker is looking to improve his position.
Hicks is looking to take a break and control but Elsker is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bud Hicks just wasn't active enough.
Hicks fails with an attempt to clinch.

Hicks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Elsker wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Hicks wants to stand but Elsker has his arm trapped.
Elsker is trying to control Hicks's posture but Hicks avoids it.

Hicks tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Elsker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hicks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Hicks has control of an arm but Elsker manages to advance to Hicks's back!
Hicks is keeping busy.

Elsker is looking for a choke. Hicks gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Hicks manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Elsker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hicks gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Elsker looks winded!

Hicks engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Elsker wants to stand and escape but Hicks is having none of it.
Hicks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hicks trying to control the position from guard on top but Elsker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Elsker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Hicks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Hicks cracks Elsker with a solid left hand.
Hicks is looking to pass into half guard but Elsker pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Elsker is in guard.
Elsker wants to control from the top but Hicks keeps moving.
Hicks has a closed guard, preventing Elsker from standing up.

Hicks tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Hicks is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Elsker is controlling him.
Hicks controls Elsker momentarily but Elsker frees himself.
Hicks wants to hit a switch here but Elsker passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Hicks there!

Elsker throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Hicks tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hicks is squirming around, avoiding Elsker's attempts to control the action.
Elsker pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Elsker is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Hicks slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Elsker is pressing down on Hicks's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hicks is holding on for now.
Still in half guard, Elsker seems content to control.
Elsker is keen to just control but Hicks is a slippery customer.
Bud Hicks overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The fighters are battling for position here. Hicks manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Elsker wants to stand and escape but instead Hicks has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Elsker is breathing heavily.
Elsker has a closed guard, preventing Hicks from standing up.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bud Hicks will probably get the nod.

Hicks shoots in and bounces Elsker off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hicks has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Elsker is proving hard to escape from.
Hicks wants to pass the guard but Elsker is keeping the position.

Hicks wants to control from the top but Elsker keeps moving.

Hicks is looking to advance position but Elsker has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Elsker with shots to the head and body - Hicks looks very uncomfortable down there.
Hicks keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Elsker thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Elsker scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Elsker can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hicks is looking to escape.

Hicks is desperately trying to improve his position but Elsker has a good base and remains in mount.
Hicks is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Elsker wants to control the pace but Hicks is squirming around nicely.

Hicks is squirming around, avoiding Elsker's attempts to control the action.
Elsker prevents Hicks from getting the reversal.
Elsker misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Hicks tries to lock up and control but Elsker gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Elsker sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Elsker wants to get back to his feet but Hicks is holding on tight.
John Elsker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bud Hicks is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

John Elsker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hicks has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
