Vymiatajec tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Johnson was well out of range. Poor timing from Vymiatajec.

Johnson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vymiatajec's head.
Vymiatajec tries to get to full guard but Johnson has control of the leg.
Johnson is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Vymiatajec still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Vymiatajec has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Our spies down at at Rift Fighting Academy inform us that Vymiatajec has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Johnson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vymiatajec swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Thomas Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
