PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Myles Makdessi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Prior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shane Prior was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Myles Makdessi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane Prior!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Makdessi moves into the clinch.
Makdessi stops a takedown attempt from Prior.
Prior should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Prior is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Makdessi pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A bit of stalling here from Makdessi.
Makdessi gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
We've been hearing reports that Makdessi has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Prior changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Makdessi fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Prior is looking for a sweep. Makdessi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Makdessi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Makdessi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Makdessi closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Prior's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Myles Makdessi.
Well Makdessi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Myles Makdessi tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
