The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okamura throws a head kick that misses.

Mcdonald closes the distance and pushes Okamura back into the cage.
Mcdonald changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Okamura fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Okamura rushes Mcdonald and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mcdonald's coach down at S-1 Complete Fighter Fitness was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Mcdonald's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Mcdonald tries to pull guard but Okamura forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Okamura misses with a knee to the head.
Okamura has Mcdonald pressed against the cage, preventing Mcdonald from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Okamura lands an elbow inside that Mcdonald shrugs off.

It looks like Leighton Mcdonald has been cut.
Mcdonald tries to pull guard but Okamura forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Kazumi Okamura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Leighton Mcdonald.
Mcdonald is trying to push Okamura away but Okamura has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Okamura landing knees to the body.

A nice glancing elbow lands by Okamura.
Okamura crunches a lovely knee into Mcdonald's ribcage.

That has opened up Leighton Mcdonald's cut even more.

The cut above Leighton Mcdonald's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Okamura throws a knee to the head but misses.
Mcdonald blocks the elbow strike.
Okamura gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Okamura tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Okamura comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Okamura looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Mcdonald is rocked!

Leighton Mcdonald's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Okamura jerks Mcdonald's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Mcdonald drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Okamura goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Okamura because Mcdonald was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
