Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Norberto Oneil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Scottie Duran!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duran tries to score a power double leg takedown but Oneil sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Duran somewhat.
Duran wants to clinch

and Oneil counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Duran changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Oneil fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Duran misses with a takedown attempt
and Oneil counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Norberto Oneil has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Scottie Duran.
Duran is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Oneil.
Oneil slaps away a takedown attempt from Duran, before circling back to the center of the mat.
No joy there for Duran, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Oneil's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Oneil fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Duran, pushing him back against the cage.

Oneil pulls guard successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Duran postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Oneil is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Duran, into his guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Oneil postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Duran trying to keep a closed guard but Oneil is proving a slippery customer.
Duran wants to stand and escape but Oneil is having none of it.
Duran keeping moving, preventing Oneil from controlling successfully.
Duran really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oneil. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Oneil is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Duran is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Duran can't keep his opponent in guard - Oneil advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Oneil is looking to advance position but Duran won't allow it.
Duran pushes Oneil off looking to stand but Oneil dives back in and keeps control.

Duran tries to kick Oneil off in order to stand up. Oneil Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Oneil wants to control but Duran is keeping him busy.

Duran throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Duran can't do much from the bottom here.
Oneil postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Duran is not content to let Oneil control the position.
Duran wants to get back to his feet but Oneil drags him back down.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Duran is pushing Oneil's head away, looking to escape. Oneil manages to hold on to the position though.
A control attempt from Duran but he's now mounted!
Duran tries to improve his position but instead Oneil has taken his back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Norberto Oneil will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Duran blocks a head kick by Oneil.

Oneil pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Duran misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Duran throws a right hand that Oneil ducks under and follows up with a left that Oneil also avoids with ease.

Duran manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Oneil on his heels. He'll look to pass Oneil's guard now, I'm sure.
Duran is in close to Oneil's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Oneil wants to sweep but no luck.

Duran got a little sloppy there for a moment and Oneil has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Duran has managed to get both his arms back between Oneil's legs - danger averted.

Duran is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Oneil is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Oneil has escaped and now he's on top!

Duran might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Oneil haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Duran wants to control the position but Oneil says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Oneil seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Duran is trying to control but Oneil manages to pass to mount!

Oneil is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Duran has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Duran is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Oneil trying to control but Duran is having none of it.

Scottie Duran has got the better of the ground game so far.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Duran can do anything to dispel that myth.

Oneil will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Oneil jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Duran manages to avoid the submission attempt.
