PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Omni Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robyn Inthachack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Omni Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robyn Inthachack!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Knight darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Knight wants to control but Inthachack is keeping him busy.
Knight throwing shots but Inthachack is blocking nicely.
Knight looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Knight is stalling here. Inthachack is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Knight seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Inthachack has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Inthachack fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Knight looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Inthachack is looking for a sweep. Knight is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Knight seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Inthachack does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Knight takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Inthachack wants to stand up but Knight is controlling him.

Knight drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Inthachack manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Knight has Inthachack in his guard.

Knight has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Knight will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Knight is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Inthachack scores with a takedown into Knight's guard.

Inthachack gets to his feet. Knight looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Inthachack gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Knight's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Inthachack tries to get to full guard but Knight has control of the leg.
Knight uses his free foot to push down on Inthachack's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Inthachack.

Inthachack can't escape the position.
Knight lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Inthachack hang on?

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Knight cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Inthachack tries to reverse the position but Knight maintains control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Knight fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Inthachack sprawls well initially but Knight persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Inthachack scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Knight manages to mount him!
Knight cracks Inthachack with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Knight is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Inthachack can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Knight lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Knight lands a heavy elbow.
Knight postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Inthachack looks a forlorn figure.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Knight swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Inthachack is now in Knight's guard. A big mistake from Knight there, giving up the dominant position!

Knight throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Knight had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Inthachack is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Knight Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Inthachack's back instead.
Knight is throwing strikes by Inthachack counters by rolling into a better position. After a scramble, Inthachack regains half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Knight thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Inthachack tries to roll over but Knight keeps him under control.
Knight slips a nice elbow through Inthachack's hands, connecting with Inthachack's forehead.
Omni Knight overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Knight feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Inthachack is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Knight's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Inthachack has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Knight is working away from the top position though.
Knight lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Knight is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Knight passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Inthachack!

Knight has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Inthachack's face.

Robyn Inthachack has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Knight postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Inthachack looks a forlorn figure.

Knight fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Knight has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
