Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Zuckerkorn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ronnie Ronbo! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zuckerkorn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ronbo avoids it really well and circles away. Ronbo scores with a crisp jab that stopped Zuckerkorn in his tracks. Barry Zuckerkorn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Zuckerkorn shoots in for a double leg but Ronbo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ronbo pushes Zuckerkorn up against the cage in a clinch. We've been informed that Ronbo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Ronbo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Zuckerkorn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ronbo swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Barry Zuckerkorn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ronbo tries to bum rush Zuckerkorn with a series of wild strikes but Zuckerkorn uses good footwork to avoid the assault. The fighters circling - Zuckerkorn throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Ronbo looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Zuckerkorn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ronbo was well out of range. Poor timing from Zuckerkorn. Ronbo defending well as Zuckerkorn loads up on a big left hand. Ronbo has managed to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ronbo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Zuckerkorn. Ronbo scores with a leg kick.
Zuckerkorn swings for the body but Ronbo moves out of range.
Ronbo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ronbo wants it to stay on the feet. Zuckerkorn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ronbo circles away. Good leg kick by Ronbo there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Zuckerkorn slips a jab and a cross from Ronbo.
Zuckerkorn connects with a looping right hand.
Zuckerkorn swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Ronbo connects with a leg kick. Zuckerkorn looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Ronbo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ronbo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Zuckerkorn tries to bum rush Ronbo with a series of wild strikes but Ronbo uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Zuckerkorn looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Zuckerkorn throws a big elbow that misses. Ronbo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zuckerkorn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ronbo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Ronbo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ronbo is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Ronbo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ronbo has closed the distance and engaged Zuckerkorn in a clinch.

Zuckerkorn throws a hook to the side of Ronbo's head but Ronbo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Zuckerkorn swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Zuckerkorn takes a swing at Ronbo's ribcage but misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zuckerkorn swings widly with a right hand
and Ronbo counters with a slapping leg kick. Ronbo lands a big head kick that sends Zuckerkorn tumbling to the mat! Ronbo takes a step backwards and waves Zuckerkorn back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Zuckerkorn is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ronbo finds Zuckerkorn's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Zuckerkorn flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Ronbo lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Zuckerkorn will be OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ronnie Ronbo! A relieved looking Ronnie Ronbo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
