Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Brownhill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Valdedaz! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdedaz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Brownhill is not content to let Valdedaz control the position. Still in half guard, Valdedaz seems content to control. Brownhill is not content to let Valdedaz control the position.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Jose Valdedaz hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Valdedaz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Brownhill closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Valdedaz to the mat! Valdedaz manages to get full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Valdedaz is controlling Brownhill's posture. Brownhill looking to sit in guard and control but Valdedaz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brownhill is adopting a defensive guard. Brownhill's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Valdedaz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Brownhill is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Michael Brownhill. Valdedaz defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brownhill.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from Brownhill enables Valdedaz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Brownhill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Brownhill has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Valdedaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Brownhill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Valdedaz wants to stand but Brownhill is controlling his posture from full guard. Brownhill pulls Valdedaz in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Valdedaz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Valdedaz moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Valdedaz moves into the clinch successfully.
Valdedaz turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Valdedaz decides to stand up, so the ref orders Brownhill to his feet. Valdedaz doesn't manage to clinch there - Brownhill circles away.
Jose Valdedaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brownhill throwing strikes from guard but Valdedaz blocks nicely. Valdedaz wants to stand and escape but Brownhill is having none of it. Brownhill throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brownhill seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Valdedaz working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Brownhill. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Valdedaz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Valdedaz looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Brownhill is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Valdedaz's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Valdedaz's back! Can Valdedaz hold on?! Brownhill is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Valdedaz won't enjoy being in this position. Brownhill looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Valdedaz is tapping - it's over boys! Brownhill picks up the submission victory!
