Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between royce gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Aranda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
gracie is trying to maintain the position but Aranda is very close to passing his half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

gracie shoots in for a double leg but Aranda sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

gracie shoots in and bounces Aranda off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Aranda controls gracie momentarily but gracie frees himself.

Aranda had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. gracie is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Aranda Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take gracie's back instead.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that royce gracie will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Aranda feints and as gracie raises his hands in defense, Aranda changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Aranda manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Aranda is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Aranda gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Aranda gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Aranda apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Aranda is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of gracie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take gracie's back!

Aranda lands a couple of decent looking shots.
gracie is pulling down on Aranda's head. It's preventing any offense from Aranda, at least for the moment.
gracie's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Aranda is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

and gracie counters with a shoot takedown. Aranda fights it but they end up in guard.

gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aranda swivels though and keeps the full guard.
