Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shelton Joseph! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Katafalkas Katas! The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Katas shoots in looking for a takedown but Joseph manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Katas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Katas tries to clinch but fails miserably and Joseph moves into the clinch. Joseph gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Katas regains guard.
Joseph postures up.
Katas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Katas is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Joseph trying to stand up but can't free himself from Katas's guard. Katas keeping full guard, as Joseph tries to pass. Katas is adopting a defensive guard.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Katafalkas Katas hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Joseph connects with a high kick.
It looks like Katafalkas Katas has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Katas looks to clinch and Joseph counters with a one-two to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Joseph moves into the clinch successfully.
Katas tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Joseph successfully pulls guard.
Katas keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Joseph's head. Katas showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Joseph is trying to control the position but Katas postures up. Joseph keeping moving, preventing Katas from controlling successfully. Joseph trying to control the position.
Joseph manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Katas manages to get himself to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Katas has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Joseph is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Katas tries to pull guard but Joseph forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Joseph lands a nice uppercut. Joseph breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. This has been an exciting period of action! Joseph doesn't succeed with the takedown so Katas counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Joseph will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Joseph thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Katas in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Joseph keeping moving, preventing Katas from controlling successfully. Katas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Joseph keeping moving, preventing Katas from controlling successfully. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Katas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Katafalkas Katas wasn't active enough on the ground. Katas drives through with a takedown into Joseph's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Katas is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Katas throwing strikes from guard but Joseph blocks nicely. Katas trying to stand up but can't free himself from Joseph's guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Katas showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Katas wants to stand but Joseph has a closed guard, so he can't escape. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Joseph holds on and takes a little breather. Joseph working for submissions but it's allowed Katas to get to half guard.
Katas looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Katas is taking a breather. Joseph says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Katafalkas Katas will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Katafalkas Katas's cut. That's time! Joseph's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Katas throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Katas scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Joseph really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Sloppy strikes there by Katas. Katas prevents Joseph from escaping the position. Joseph struggling a bit here. Katas decides to take the fight back to the feet. Joseph shoots for a double leg takedown but Katas sprawls well. He's pushed Joseph's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nice sprawl there from Joseph as Katas shoots in. Joseph rushes Katas and presses him up against the cage. Joseph jumps into guard, dragging Katas to the mat.
Joseph on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Joseph tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Katas missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Katas trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Katas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Joseph is keeping the position for now. Katas controlling from the top position. Joseph keeping moving, preventing Katas from controlling successfully. Katas controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Katafalkas Katas has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Katas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Joseph shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Joseph shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Katas as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shelton Joseph. That's going to take a lot out of him. Katas fails with the takedown. Katas walks forward, straight into a front kick from Joseph. Katas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Katas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Katas is looking to take a break and control but Joseph is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Katas is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Joseph's shoulder. That is not cool.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Joseph takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Joseph can't do much from the bottom here. Joseph prevents Katas from moving into mount. Katas scores with punches from side control. Katas working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Katas trying to control the action but Joseph is working from the bottom. Katas decides to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Katas drives through with a takedown into Joseph's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Katas prevents Joseph from getting back to his feet. Katas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Let's hope that Katas has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Katafalkas Katas. Joseph shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Katas eats them both and turns towards Joseph to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Joseph bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Katafalkas Katas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Katafalkas Katas's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Joseph displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Katas. Shelton Joseph is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Joseph gets a clinch. Joseph wants the takedown. Katas is fighting it off but Joseph persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Katas's guard against the cage. Katas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Katas wants to sweep here but Joseph controlling him for the moment. Joseph has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Katas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's one minute gone in the round. Katas looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Joseph is trying to control the action in half guard but Katas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Joseph blocks the strikes from Katas.
Joseph tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Katas. Katas is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Katas looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Joseph working Katas over with strikes. Katafalkas Katas has got the better of the ground game so far. Joseph is looking to pass Katas's guard but actually Katas recovers to full guard. Joseph has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Katas is proving hard to escape from. Katas seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Katas tries to land a sweep but no joy. Joseph seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Katas fails in his attempt to clinch. Katas leaves Joseph with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Katas shoots and misses and Joseph moves into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Katas is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Joseph manages to break the clinch.
Joseph lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Katas drives through with a takedown into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Joseph keeping moving, preventing Katas from controlling successfully. Joseph controlling Katas's posture. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Katas throws a big elbow that misses.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shelton Joseph. I think Katas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
