The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracia doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Ryan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Ryan wants to pass the guard but Gracia is defending well.
Gracia is looking to get back to full guard here but Ryan has managed to pass to side control instead.
Gracia tries to buck Ryan off but Ryan is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracia takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Ryan manages to reverse the position and now he's in Gracia's guard. Nice work there by Ryan.

Gracia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ryan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ryan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gracia is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ryan is aware though and is defending well.

I really don't envy Gracia right now.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joan Ryan will probably get the nod.
