Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Carney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sid Severius!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carney is defended easily by Severius.
Severius takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Severius rushes Carney and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Severius letting Carney take a breather here.
Severius has Carney pressed against the cage, preventing Carney from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Carney is trying to break free.
Carney really is a fat lump.

Severius breaks the clinch.
Severius avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Severius gets a double leg takedown into Carney's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Sid Severius was stalling too much, according to the referee.

It looks like George Carney has been cut.
Carney tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Severius paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Carney keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Severius shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Severius was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Severius tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Severius has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Severius prevents Carney from getting the reversal.

Carney looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Severius is controlling the position but Carney somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Severius decides to stand up.

Severius bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Carney tries to bench press Severius off him but Severius keeps the position.

Carney is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Severius is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Severius is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Carney has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sid Severius dominated that round.
The cut man is working on George Carney's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Carney tries a head kick but it misses.

Severius throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Carney was covering up waiting for the punch and Severius finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Severius. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Carney is trying to hold Severius in close to prevent damage but Severius has managed to pass into half guard.

Severius looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Carney is controlling Severius's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Severius wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carney keeps working.
Severius trying to advance position but Carney counters by regaining guard.
Carney wants to control but Severius passes easily into half guard.

Carney is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Severius is thwarting Carney's attempts to control the position.
Severius takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Severius tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Carney.

Severius is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Still in half guard, Severius seems content to control.
Carney might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Severius wants to control but Carney is keeping him busy.
Severius is controlling the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sid Severius hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Carney darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Carney wants to control but Severius is keeping him busy.
Carney prevents Severius from improving his position.
Severius manages to get to full guard.

Severius has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up because George Carney just wasn't active enough.
Carney looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Sid Severius showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!



Severius shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Severius was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Severius tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Severius is looking to take a break and control but Carney is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Carney is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Severius wants to stand but Carney has his arm trapped.

Carney tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Severius presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Severius takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Severius's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Severius wants to control the pace but Carney is squirming around nicely.
Carney manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Severius looks to land a strike but Carney avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
