3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chad Slone! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hennings feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hennings trying to control the position from guard on top but Slone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hennings postures up in Slone's guard and throws a big left but Slone blocks it. Hennings preventing the sweep. Hennings trying to control but Slone is working from the bottom. Slone not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Slone working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hennings doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hennings manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Hennings trying to control but Slone is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Slone is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Dustin Hennings just wasn't active enough. Hennings misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hennings lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hennings. Slone misses with a takedown attempt - Hennings sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Slone showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hennings.
Slone looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Hennings keeping full guard, as Slone tries to pass. Hennings looking to hit a scissor sweep but Slone is one step ahead there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hennings is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Slone defends well.

Hennings gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Hennings won't allow Slone to pass to mount. Slone is working for a submission of some sort.
Hennings is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Slone pulls his head out easily. Slone is working for a submission of some sort.
We've been hearing good reports from Hennings's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Hennings wants to get back to full guard.
